Good question Furrow. The answer is not letting the top 1% of billionaires control the vast majority of the wealth and GDP. That's for sure.

How about we eliminate poverty, homelessness, provide quality healthcare for everyone and tax the billionaires to pay for it?

All of the nordic contries have high standards of living, freedom, democracy and they have a strong social support system.

They set an example of what is possible.

Do you include Germany in that Chuck2? A country where too much immigration, too much climate regulation and taxation has pushed up unemployment and the cost of living! The result, the right wing AFD has just won a state election and leads the opinion polls across Germany.

Germany is not a Nordic country!

And the AFD is an extremist pro russian anti immigrant party based in the former east Germany A party that is an echo of the Nazi party that came to power blaming and dehumanizing Jews and immigrants.

The NAZIs came to power blaming the jews for economic problems in the great depression. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Did they not learn their lesson?

        And Musk cheers them on!

        Heil Musk!

Hamloc are you justifying the AFD win? Sure sounds like it!

Our veterans who fought against the Nazis are rolling over in their graves.

Not justifying the AFD win at all. I am simply pointing out the end result of bad government policy.
As for the Nordic countries, right wing populist parties have gained political footholds in Sweden, Finland and Norway capitalizing on economic debates, energy policies and immigration concerns.

So was the Russian invasion of Ukraine bad German policy? No!

Russia cut gas supplies, raised energy prices in Europe and China is out competing their industries. Little of that was caused by Germany.

Relying more on renewables that are not tied to Russia is a good thing if you want economic independence.

Anti Immigrant parties always like to blame the immigrants during economic shocks.

We have had a worldwide pandemic, the Russian invasion, the tRump anti trade agenda and the mother of all energy blockades, all within the last 6 years and you are only blaming domestic policies for the problems?

C'mon Hamloc that's just not realistic!

Canada is still in a relatively good position.

Except tRump might blow up the bond market. That will be fun!

The only way we can afford the above is to rely on wealth creating resources like Norway did and slow immigration to a trickle till we can get a handle on the problems that our own citizens first
then stop throwing billions of tax payer money away at ridiculous liberal pet projects over seas , it’s a retarded government policy

Hasn't that been what the progressives have been campainig on and the policy book Canada has been focusing on since at least 2015?
                    How's that going?
Tax more, regulate more, bigger government has run us out of money.
Including the people that are trying to live on the stalled per capita GDP than clearly means no real income growth for most Canadians.
Socialism doesn't work. Never has, never will.
