TMX was one of the greatest examples of the government turning a simple straight forward project into a boondoggle.
Twining a pipe down an existing right of way to an existing terminal with most approvals already in place.
Whole thing quickly turned into all cost plus with no incentive for any productivity.
But this government has shown a total disregard for productivity across the board.
That's why our per capita GDP is about the worst in the world.
It would be off the chart if it wasn't for commodity producers.

Exactly, yet they hold that up as some prize for Trudeau ……. lolOriginally posted by shtferbrains View PostTMX was one of the greatest examples of the government turning a simple straight forward project into a boondoggle.

The Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) project generates billions in revenue and cash returns for the Government of Canada as it operates and pays back its financing.
Financial Returns to the Federal Government- Cash Returns: Trans Mountain has returned billions in cash to Canada since beginning operations in May 2024, with hundreds of millions paid in single quarters (such as $448 million paid in early 2026).
- Projected Revenue: The pipeline provides over $2 billion in revenue directly to the federal government alongside substantial provincial returns.
- Future Sales: The federal government plans to launch a divestment process to sell the pipeline back to the private sector or Indigenous groups to help recover public investment costs.

This is actually quite funny. Up until now Chuck2 you have said what a bad investment TMX was. How the tolls were uneconomical. How this pipeline was bad for the environment. Now it is a fantastic government investment. And if Indigenous groups buy it, where do you think the money will come from?! The Canadian taxpayer.Originally posted by chuckChuck View Post

But now you say its a bad investment Hamloc after saying we need more pipelines? LOL
Make up your mind!
I am just pointing out the facts.

GDP also went down because of large amounts of immigration. But our standard of living for most Canadians is still better than the US because GDP per capita says nothing about distribution of the GDP.
The top few percent of billionaires get more of the GDP than the bottom half of americans.
