        Wind is cheaper than fossil fuels! Sask power said so.

        And to do a comparison you would need to take into account the subsidies to oil, gas and coal industries. Which are substantial!

          Nuclear won't get built without massive government subsidies and guarantees. No private company will invest in nuclear the most expensive and financially risky option by far.

              Yes solar is such a good deal you don't need subsidies. And electricity prices in Saskatchewan are going to go very high if Moe has his way making solar a very good investment.

              8 cents solar vs 15 cents per Kwh from Sask Power.

                  We got about $15000 20% rebate from Sask Power. It was available to anyone who wanted it for awhile untill the program was so popular they changed it.

                  But grid tied solar is still a good investment if it displaces your Sask Power usage especially since rates are going to go through the roof.

                  You can also add in a battery and rely even more on solar.

                  With the rebate 25 years of electricity cost is 6.8 cents per kwh. Without the rebate the value is 8.5 cents per kwh.

                  That is far below the 15 cents per kwh Sask power charges. Which will soon be 20 cents per kwh or more.

                    Bragging about the subsidy you recieved isn't an answer to the question. Many cant afford solar with the subsidy. Obviously you could afford it without the subsidy but refused to purchase solar without the subsidy.

                      Look around and many farmers have millions of dollars tied up in expensive equipment far beyond a $75,000 solar system. Many have that invested in a pickup truck alone.

                      Most farmers get much more in subsidies every year for crop insurance premiums than what I got for solar.
                      In Saskatchewan, Crop Insurance premiums are cost-shared: Governments pay 60% and the participating producer pays 40%.

                      And solar is is just another investment like any piece of machinery or building.

                      Solar is a good deal without the rebate. With the rebate 25 years of electricity cost is 6.8 cents per kwh. Without the rebate the value is 8.5 cents per kwh.

                      And the panels will likely keep producing long past 25 years.
