The owner of the company is responsible for its success. The buck stops with him. Who does the oversight of remotely working bureaucrats? Governments have proven over time to be notoriously poor money managers and slow in getting work done. Why would anyone think that remote unsupervised work would improve this result?

Most of their communication is by email and zoom in any case. The managers don't sit watching them work on their computers do they?

Most stuff is digital nowadays. Work progress is easy to track. Brick and mortar offices aren’t the necessity they once were. If and I say if, the employee is diligent to be responsible and accountable I do not see anything wrong with working at home. Cost savings on both ends for sure. You know there are dog humpers you have to lord over with the proverbial whip to keep motivated but face it I don’t think those types gravitate too far. I hope at least.
