They have millions dollar schools. Education is available for them.
but it's keeping their culture and not moving ahead is the problem.

Because in many cases there are high levels of unemployment on and off the reserves, low levels of education and lots of social problems that make many of them unemployable.

There are also few jobs on most remote reserves.

Housing, education and healthcare and the standard of living are of lower quality on most reserves.

They have much higher levels of poverty as a result.

Poverty and social dysfunction creates a cycle that is hard to break out of.

Those of us who grew up in relatively well off stable families with more resources don't understand the cycle of poverty that marginalized groups experience.

So what's the solution? Money is NOT helping! Everything has/is being tried...still stuck in time. Is it that old saying can lead a horse to drink but CAN'T make him drink?

Chuck it ain't racist if it's the truth... I have spent decades around a lot of FN people and reserves and know first hand that the majority of them don't give a **** about getting an education or finding a job... why would they when they can just come back to the working white man and say they need more money for whatever reason they make up about the treaties not being lived up to, or that there are hundreds of murdered kids at a residential school... oh but don't dig up any "bodies", can't have that. You bleeding heart Liberals will take the opposite side of common sense at every opportunity and yet "WE" are the problem. They are their own worst enemies but are completely unwilling to use what has been given to them, like education and opportunity, and people like you support that by saying it's not their fault...
And the corruption on our reserves makes the Somalis in Minny look like the minor leagues! Give a Rez 10 million and find the chief and council all shopping for Escalades the next day... clean drinking water you say?? Nah, **** that, let's build a casino and take some vacations...

That isn't an audit result like the FSIN one that showed suspicious spending of millions.
The $88 million is the total they got since 2022 but they haven't been providing any expense reports to justify where it went.

"In February, Lake St. Martin filed expense reports for 2019-20 and 2020-21, but financials to 2025 are not posted."

When they have elections on the rez some routinely clean house on all the employees and hire their relatives.
Makes for issues.
The most important qualification of the band administrator is that she will write cheques for the chief and councilors for whatever they want no questions asked.

There are wide discrepancies on how reserve's are run.
Some are run very well. Dakota Dunes is a very visible example.
Some are doomed to a cycle of corrupt leaders and nepotism. Only money comes from Government payments of various types.
