You are right , just a number floated while in P.V. There are more than 19000 as not everyone registers.Originally posted by checking View Post
Not a chance. Even the CBC says that less than 19,000 Canadians are presently in all Mexican locations. I just hope as a taxpayer that I'm not responsible to rescue any of them.
Also reported that most people have no concept of the difference among a million, a billion, and a trillion of anything. Apparently it also applies to the thousands.

Well the sun came up this morning, the taxis began running at 6 am, fuel stations, well the ones that didn’t get burnt, are open and the roads are mostly cleared of burnt vehicles. Reports are of very few deaths, 4 with the cartels and possibly 2 prison guards. 3/4s of flights are back on the board at the airport. Monday beach party here, we will have to see if many show up. Beautiful day in paradise.

It may have been timing. We could only travel during reading week. Booked 2 months in advance. Very few flights and very few resorts left in mexico already at that time. Prices reflected that.Originally posted by LEP View Post
If you found Hawaii cheaper than Mexico, you must be stealing food and sleeping on the beach. I have several friends that went to Hawaii regularly but are reconsidering after this year.
Listening to local news in Hawaii there were many reports of Canadian tourism being way down from normal, so prices drop.
Lots of reasonably priced vacancies, flights were far far cheaper than Mexico. We ate great food where the locals eat at very reasonable prices. Rented a car because it's safe to drive, instead of hiring taxis and paying for tours.

Just booked a trip to Texas, including visiting the Gulf of America and San Antonio. It will not be cheap but never been there so might as well make it worthwhile. Have been to PV and the Riviera a couple of times and we really like the place but will have to see if they can get control away from the cartels or not down there.

Well should the administration boot you for this nonsense? LolOriginally posted by agstar77 View PostCNN reports The U.S. may be involved in the crackdown of cartels. U.S tourists may be targets of reprisals, although bullets don't recognize nationalities. Hope none of your friends or relatives are there.
I could care less but wow people amaze me sometimes

Costco and Target have everything you need very reasonable.
750 ml bottle cheaper than two drinks at a resort
$300 for food at Costco will save you $3000 eating out .
Plan you own days like you said with renting a car .
If you’re doing the full blown Hawaii thing, ya it’s very expensive. But so is Vegas from what I hear .

Have friends locked down at a resort in PV rright now.. were supposed to fly out today but currently thats no bueno.
not really worried on the resorts for NOW. Cartels own and run half the resorts so they wont go in there.
Wasnt PV locked down 2 or 3 yrs ago for same thing when el chapos son got arrested?
the cartels run mexico. known fact. The local police forces dont get paid enough and are easily crooked by the cartels. Imagine being on a force where you have no idea who you can trust and the guy you work with may shoot you in the back of the brain the next time things go down. Terrifying.
And if you think that hawaii ( an absolute democratic stronghold) is anything like the usa... theyre not.
They follow a state constitution... have always voted hard blue... and have separate governing systems...
but there isnt anywhere in the states i wouldnt travel... but im white sooooo.....
we have family go there every yr and my pops was there last year...and hes headed there again in a few weeks. He said everyone was super happy that canadians are coming and they all veryyy much dislike trump. Bigly.
Mexico? Was in cancun last nov.. its safe but you still know who's boss.
I sureeee wouldnt be renting a vehicle and driving around jalisco or sinaloa state anytime soon though.. or the west coast.
