Firearm grab set to begin

https://firearmrights.ca/statement-on-buyback-launch-announcement/ From alberta outdoorsmen
It’s now official- the nationwide program starts on Monday January 19!

Here is a summary of the information from the press conference today:
The voluntary declaration period will begin on Monday Jan 19
Firearm owners will be contacted by the National Firearms Centre by email or letter beginning Monday with info on participating
Declaration period will end on March 31st, 2026
Declaration can be submitted by online portal or by mail
Declaring your firearms WILL NOT GUARANTEE COMPENSATION
First come, first served basis for compensation
"Voluntary" but those who do not participate will not receive compensation and will have to dispose of prohibited firearms by deactivating, exporting or turning in to police before amnesty period ends (current expiry is 30 Oct 2025)
"The deadlines are real. Please heed them."
Program will be reopening for businesses as well "later this winter"
All affected firearm owners or businesses will have to comply with the law by the end of the amnesty period, to avoid criminal liability for the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm
Alberta and Saskatchewan have added "legal impediments" to participating in the program
The government does not want people to use money from surrendered firearms to "buy an SKS" (they're not likely going to give you any money regardless)?

I would suggest to anyone who thinks they may be affected, to educate themselves for their own risk. These firearms groups can seed false hope and partial information.
It appears the pool of compensation money is first come first served. Mar 30 enrollment end.
You can be charged by end Oct.
They will add more to the list.
If you want to use it, I would suggest not buying any semi-auto center fire rifle and several models of shotgun.
I suspect that rotating amnesty periods will drag on for years.
This is not going away no matter what decade the PCs ever get elected in.
If you're a collector, you can pay for deactivation. If there's a large enough value, instruct your executor to export. Example, legal restricteds under current permanent transfer ban. Your monetary investment is gone in Canada.
Anything now or in the future on banned list is a liability. They are no longer grandfathering anything.
The future I predicted for 40 years is here now.

BTW, if you're in AB, the least you can do is sign the current separation petition no matter how unlikely.

A huge issue here take our lowball offer after we have your firearm or we will steal it for nothing.

Out on the rez guns are just a liquid asset, unless it's a family heirloom,
Lots of transactions in trades or whatever.
Paper trails are not a consideration.
Not a world bean counters can understand.

Retailers have been made to keep sales records all along. Not a huge help.
There will need to be two applications of the same law for rez and non.
Again, thinking amnesty extensions and rotations.
Eventually we'll die out.

Essentially, less than wholesale.
Do the math from the news.
