Ignorance and fear are bed partners and will always be a part of our make up.
One thing I do hope that keeps improving with time is our understanding of the mind and it's various presentations.
I have spoken about things mental health related such as autism here before and won't repeat myself today.
Too many conversations on the Internet give credence to regression rather than progression.

Canada's vaccine policies are based on science and evidence.

RFK's policies are based on his unsupported antivaxer views which are not supported by science.

"Decades of extensive, high-quality scientific research and numerous large-scale studies have consistently found no link between vaccines and autism. Major global health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), affirm that vaccines are safe and effective.?"
      • MMR Vaccine: The initial concern stemmed from a 1998 study published in The Lancet. This study was later found to be fraudulent, methodologically flawed, and the author lost his medical license. Subsequent rigorous studies involving millions of children in multiple countries have definitively disproven this link.
      • Thimerosal: This mercury-based preservative has been used in some multi-dose vaccine vials to prevent contamination (it is no longer used in most childhood vaccines, except for some influenza vaccines). Extensive research has shown no association between thimerosal in vaccines and autism.
      • Too Many Vaccines: The number of recommended vaccines has increased over time, leading to concerns about "overwhelming" the immune system. The immune system is capable of responding to thousands of antigens simultaneously, and studies have shown no link between the number of vaccines or antigens and autism risk.

The rise in autism diagnoses is primarily attributed to factors such as increased public awareness, expanded diagnostic criteria, and better screening methods, not vaccines. Autism is understood to be a complex neurodevelopmental condition influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

I am a boomer also and I am the last person you should take health advice from.
Just some things that helped form how I feel about vaccines.
I feel my Mother was a very wise woman and what she told me was anti vaxxers never grew up with the fear of polio! Watching people around you getting sick and becoming crippled was terrifying for a young person and the vaccine was like a gift! The most she suffered in her life was almost a year with shingles and she really regretted not getting a vaccine for it.
I have four children and chicken pox went through our children when they were young. This was before the chicken pox vaccine was given. Three of my children had a mild case but one had a severe case and she was severely ill. You can still see faint pox marks on her face all these years later. I really regret not having her vaccinated!

Thank you for the responses. Yes, it could be anything at this point. It's good to be able to ask the question, because science involves asking questions. And for the record, we have always vaccinated our cattle and pets. We have also always vaccinated our children.

This idiot would also like to question the adjuvants used in vaccines.

I think that's a great way to approach this.

I can add one other thought.
Out of all our families that covers a couple generations of fairly large families I have one cousin that had an autistic child. My cousin grew up in an urban setting and liked going to university and just stayed getting degrees until her early forties. Finally she got married and had one autistic child.
I always wondered if her age played a part? I know that most women are having children much older than a few generations before and makes me wonder?

And all of the Karen's who screech follow the science, screech even louder at the mere suggestion of asking any questions about this topic.

The science is settled, questioning is not permitted.

Autism is considered to be a genetic condition and be highly heritable however isn't down to one or two genes and can be greatly impacted by environment (enter the epigenetics discussion)

So while many people like to focus on the health of and what is done to the baby to cause issues - like how many vaccines, the true focus should be the health of the parents. Not just the woman, the man also.

Studies are showing that older men will also increase the risk of neuro issues like schizophrenia, bi polar and even autism. Stress in boys, as well as stress and depression in adult men, impact the sperm and what information it carries to the egg during fertilization increasing the likelihood of anxiety and depression in the child.

Then there are the studies on the gut microbiome and how much it impacts mental health, exponentially more than was previously thought.

In the generations where people were fed so much garbage about their health and were the guinea pigs for convenience while having absolutely zero mental health understanding, the Boomers and even Gen X, is it any surprise that the issues they had have begun to get compounded on and passed down into their children and grand children?

Are issues like Autism being diagnosed more? Probably. But I would say the environment of the Western world currently has adults so strung out that it's just an ideal breeding ground so to speak of these kinds of neuro issues. A parent who isn't healthy themselves shouldn't be expected to produce a healthy child, and that doesn't mean the parent needs to have diagnosed Autism or AuADHD or anything, they just need to have chronic stress and poor eating habits.

Go into a third world country and diagnose neuro issues. I'd expect a much lower incidence simply due to the stressors that those populations have on them.

I guess I wasn’t quite accurate when I said my cousin was older.
Both parents were older and it’s not just women that are older their partners are also older.

The beauty of science is we are always finding out new things. Science is never settled. What we know today we did not know yesterday, and what we will know tomorrow we did not know today.

Stress is a huge factor, I believe it. https://drgabormate.com/book/when-the-body-says-no/
Do vaccine shots cause stress? Maybe they should find another root of delivery as every baby cries when they are given a shot. Many shots.

                      Environment is huge.

Blaithin - when you talk about the stressors in a third world country, did you mean the lack of stressors?
