Seems mostly associated with one “diverse race” it’s been going on for years. Local paper refuses to cover this news and is being called, “ democratic fish wrap”. Almost all main stream media seems to have turned to fish wrap.

Sounds like the the much smaller fraud scandal that occurred in Saskatchewan with the Sask Party MLA Gary Grewal who billed the Sask government at inflated rates for his motels that housed social service clients. His rates went up significantly after he started getting Saska Government business
Sask Party MLA Gary Grewal faced controversy in late 2023/early 2024 as the NDP alleged his owned motels, Sunrise Motel and Thriftlodge, charged the Ministry of Social Services
inflated rates for housing vulnerable clients, with rates increasing significantly once the government started paying, raising concerns about conflict of interest and potential misuse of public funds, leading to calls for an auditor investigation and new ministry policies for hotel contracts.
Key Details of the Controversy:- Allegations: The Opposition NDP highlighted instances where Grewal's Sunrise Motel raised its nightly rate from around $132 to $168-$200 once the ministry began covering costs for a senior client.
- Financial Links: Documents revealed Grewal had financial ties to both the Sunrise Motel and the Thriftlodge in Regina, both of which received substantial payments from Social Services.
- Inflated Rates: Data suggested these motels charged significantly higher than public rates, with Thriftlodge having the highest average rate ($186) among motels used by the ministry in 2022-23.
- Government Response: Minister Makowsky admitted to high spending but defended practices, citing limited hotel options; the government implemented new rules requiring three quotes and contracts for hotels.
- Outcomes: The scrutiny led Grewal to announce he wouldn't seek re-election in February 2024. The Provincial Auditor was expected to review the situation, and the NDP continued to push for transparency.

Let's put it this way chuck. I have a relative working for social services. They have the potential of 11 hotels in town and maybe only one or two that will take clients.Originally posted by chuckChuck View PostSounds like the the much smaller fraud scandal that occurred in Saskatchewan with the Sask Party MLA Gary Grewal who billed the Sask government at inflated rates for his motels that housed social service clients. More lame excuses from Sask Party supporters? LOL
Hotels have insurance for damages. Why did Grewal quit if it his much higher rates were justified?
What about Bill Boyd and the GTH insider land deals? You got an excuse for that too?
Businessmen made millions on Regina land that wound up in taxpayers' hands
‘The whole thing stinks,’ says landowner whose former property is embroiled in puzzling transactions
