Operation Total Recall

Seems to be a lot of commotion surrounding removing elected officials from office for using the notwithstanding clause to force teachers back to work in October.

The recall operation is already in the 5th phase out of 7 — the signature phase.

I'm wondering what the Agriville crowd thinks of all this. Looking like Smith may have to potentially name another ag minister.

Not familiar with the rules, but don't they need alot of signatures to trigger a vote?

Exactly what it was designed for but just wasn't suppose to be used against the UCP. Backfired is all. Just like most plans not well thought out.

The rules are being abused. Recall initiatives are supposed to originate from within the riding. However, vested interests are involved here and one can certainly not trust elections Alberta to conduct this properly as they are mostly ndp hacks who are primarily interested in destroying what is great about Alberta.

I have read the petitions.
My money says the unions are behind it. Think the number has to be a % of votes in last election.
Looking at the number of NDP ridings I would say it's a potential train wreck. Nothing will ever get fixed by either one.

Its amazing. Honestly... some of them may get enough signatures to force a new vote... i doubt any would swing any which way other than UCP anyways.. but the msg has been sent.

None of this is what the ucp campaigned on.
IMAGINE. Being so unsure of your legislation ( or sure, rather) that it breaks the federal charter that you place use the not withstanding clause JUST so that it cant be challenged in court.

Imagine if the next party in power did that.

It doesnt matter what side of the aisle you stand on the use and abuse of the not withstanding clause that the ucp have shown here is... dumb.

Like opening pandoras box and hoping that nobody else will use whats inside. Plus. Dale nally ( my MLA) is the minister of red tape and reduction blah blah... he allowed ( signed off on) the circumvention of foreign land ownership rules for farmland in my county ( will be roughly 12 miles from my place) to allow the saudis to build a... data. Centre?

Most of these recallls wont do anything..

Kinda hilarious how they are all crying foul now!
