    Last real scenario comment on this civil thread been good.
    A farm mate two farms over about 3 miles away think hes 46 is my wool classer, fit as a fiddle was playing active sport till 40 not a ounce of fat on him clean living guy.
    Guessing when he was maybe 43/44 not sure exactly went to GP with tingling in his left arm and pins and needles slight loss of strength.
    Hmmm GP though will give anti inflamittaries etc see if it will calm down come back in a week if not better but before you go please please look into private health not in a few days today and get some sort of basic cover ASAP as he played body contact could be joint issues.

    Anyway he actually took the advice think $300 plus month and turned out maybe 5 months later he has early onset of Parkinson's getting best of top level care quickly rather than on public waiting list carousel.

    Another situation it pays time wind this thread up eh thanks all been good passed the time.

    PS parkinsons not getting any better or worse still farming

      Sounds like the GP had an idea.
      Sometimes reading between the lines very important.
      $300/ month is quite cheap.

      Hats off to your avoiding all vices by the way. More willpower than I have.

        My neighbor at 91 was quite upset last year after injuring himself and having to take medication. For the first time in his life. Never been prescribed anything before.

        No vices. Great shape, active, eats healthy.

        And responsible people like him get to wait in line for the same lack of medical services as the least responsible.

          He won the genetics lottery, my Mother did not. Or maybe he didn't break his body in two working like a mule like Dad.
          If you choose a society that values Universal access then that's what it means. Lady Justice is just as blind if you're stupid in theory. MAID only if you're caught with a vice in your past?
          The issue is our mandated govt only as provider makes it actually less universal.

            Can’t punish somebody for not being responsible. How do you draw that line? Who gets to pick?

            Well your parents never taught you so you fall behind the people who’ve never needed anything from the system but ahead of those who are on AISH.

            Well you should know better but then you had a substance abuse issue and made a couple bad decisions in life which you’re now paying for so you go behind everybody in line.

            Well you’ve never had kids so you’re behind any parent.

            You’ve never had a job outside of basic service industry so you’re behind trades who are being degrees, but only useful degrees like med and vets, not literature or history, they’re behind everybody.

                How does a system with no carrots or sticks, unlimited demand, finite money/resources manage to ration supply?

                Personal responsibility has no role?

                Can you imagine how a taxpayer funded no-fault car insurance system would work?

                      I aint rich by any way shape or form. I tell all my kids same as my dad once you get to 25/30 have base level private cover ive got rolls Royce cover actually looked at downgrading maybe 8 10 years ago they said no way you cant get cover like this anymore so I stuck with it
