Does your hired hand have insurance or is going to the public system emergency?

The point I am making is it benefits you if he is helped. You're private Healthcare is of little use if you can't access it. A good Healthcare system that helps everyone is essential for any civilized society.

I’m not sure you have a point.

Nobody has said scrap public health care completely, they say allow more private.

Mallee is showing an example in real time how that kind of system works, benefiting people on both sides of the fence. Obviously he knows the accessibility of public helps people like his hired hand, his head isn’t full of rocks.

A public emergency system would be much more effective if people could more easily use private for less emergent conditions. Why do I have to go to emergency when I have a basic broken arm? That’s not a critical emergency, there should be other options more easily available.

Public healthcare is of little use if it’s so over run as to be non effective with extreme wait times and people falling through cracks.

Does having a private system parallel to a public system improve the public system if there are limited total resources ? In a perfect world allowing a private system would take pressure off public system. Unfortunately the world isn't perfect. The public system needs improvement including triming the central bureaucracy.

And that is the problem with having these discussions with socialists.

They start with the assumption that the size of the pie is fixed. And all that can be done is divide it up equitably.

The rest of us accept that the pie can and will be made bigger. Even if it isn't divided up equitably, everyone will still get a bigger piece than the equal pieces the socialists would offer.
