Well those in favor of AB independence have given many reasons why leaving would be in our best interests. So far zero reason to stay other than there would undoubtably be some challenges as we navigate the process. The only reason there are any remoaners, is because many in canuckistan like seeing the boot on the neck of thy neighbor. The CFIA is corrupt, so getting rid of it would be a plus. Export grain is sold on price and spec so no problem there. Dealing with BC would present some logistical challenges, but I foresee competition to shipping AB products through US ports. AB would have close ties to the US as we would not be trying to undermine the US by producing drugs, harboring terrorists, and money laundering for foreign criminals. Besides BC is dependent on carbon taxes on AB products going through its territory right now.

Why do I think we should stay?

Because when I’m travelling I don’t say Hi, I’m an Albertan. I say Hi, I’m Canadian.

Being part of a country is not about being there only when it’s good for you. How was Alberta able to be developed and settled? It was supported by the industries and settlements in the east. We are a baby country, younger than houses and bars in other countries. To complain that we have had to support the east for so long is a ludicrous statement considering how long they were the money and initiative behind the west being settled. Far before Canada was even a country.

Should things be changed? Absolutely. That’s the nature of the world, things are constantly evolving and need to be to survive. But no, that evolution is not throw the toys out of the pram and say you’re leaving.

How is wanting to separate any different than a celebrity saying they’re moving countries if the leader they don’t like gets elected. It isn’t any different. Separatists can say it is until the cows come home, saying you want to separate is the exact same as a celebrity saying they’re leaving America because they don’t like Trump.

A separatist who mocks such celebrities or who has said anything along the lines of Canada should stop taking in refugees is nothing more than a hypocrite. If those people are not allowed to leave their homes in the face of their struggles, why should Alberta be different?
