Don't know what cc is raving about , but i know he don't have a clue about the work involved in lambing and looking after a large number of sheep , and protecting them from predators

And Hamloc how is it any of your business what other farmers invest in or do with their land in in a free market? LOL

Sounds like you support state land control!

Are you a tad resentful of other peoples success?

And accelerated depreciation is just an incentive like the 30% CCA you get for automotive purchases.

Or do you think government paid for all your tractors and trucks as well? LOL

And Crop you don't need sheep for solar panels its just a way to control vegetation and make some extra money. Cows or goats could probably do it too.

Or you can use mechanical methods. At $700-1200 per acre you have several choices.

I expect the solar panels in the Alberta example are fenced against predators making sheep viable.

Plus there is growing home grown market for lamb amongst immigrants.

No doubt it's a big job raising sheep Crop! Are you afraid of hard work or what's your problem?

The key is it is not a free market Chuck2. First off most utility scale solar installations receive government subsidies for construction. Then a significant amount of income is carbon credits, a market created by government carbon taxation. Absolutely nothing free market about it.

What would sheep be worth if the land was covered with panels and sheep??

Considering that we only grow 40% of what we consume, it won't be a problem quite a while.

i can see how somebody like cc with a sheep mentality would be promoting sheep , in his world everybody should be part of the same sheep herd , follow the same rules , think the same thoughts , want the same achievements ,all at the same pace etc

Lamb shank is great. Only have ate it in restaurants. Super tender and juicy. Blows most beef cuts out of the water.

Some of you guys sure have a hate on for innovative farmers trying new things! Like the farmer in Alberta who figured how to integrate sheep and grazing with solar panels at $700 - $1200 per acre in lease payments alone. Sheep are a bonus on top of that!

The chronic complainers and naysayers can't stand anybody who thinks differently!

And BP why do you stupidly think a lot Alberta land would have to be covered in sheep and panels? Really, you are that clueless? LOL

There is still plenty of marginal grassland that would be ideal for panels, wind mills and grazing!

The report done by the Alberta regulator clearly said renewable energy has a very small footprint, much less than oil, gas, and other industrial activities. And will remain quite small.

But of course the anti renewable energy idiots can't understand this! LOL

But Danny had to invent a reason to stifle the renewable industry because she speaks for the oil industry and is not in favour of innovation and renewable energy investment!

The reality is nobody wants to raise sheep. Beef and pork, we raise far more than can be domestically consumed but not sheep.
