Some of the usual suspects seem to think that the current lower fossil fuel prices are here to stay.
You only have to look at the the last decade to know they go up and down like a yo yo and when they are up they are broadly inflationary and when they are down they lower core inflation.
Except in this round of inflation many other goods and services are not coming down in prices.
Now does Alberta want higher energy prices or lower energy prices? They prefer higher prices for consumers because it drives profits and government revenue.
And what do free market Albertans think about OPEC and their constant management of supply and prices?
In a massive irony, Alberta and the oil companies benefit from the worlds biggest oil cartel driven by state owned oil companies.
The game is rigged against consumers in favour of oil producers.
And then we haven't even talked about the very high cost of pollution and climate change that is not accounted for in fossil energy prices.
