    Farm Tragedy SE Saskatchewan

60 year-old came home from US to help with harvest. You know the hole on top of 50 foot steel bin, yep, don’t go near it.

Farming is a dangerous occupation. Keep your wits about you. So easy for things to go bad quickly.

After working in elevators and the heavy emphasis put on fall protection - meanwhile hearing the massive amounts of stories of farmers who get injured or die from falls - it’s a big hole in farm safety.

Makes such a loss even more tragic.

Part of me keeps telling myself I've turned in to a big useless chickensh-t.
I'm learning to be okay with that.
        Sympathies to the family.

The older I get the less I trust my knees and hips. Climbing bins isn't for me anymore, not if I don't have to.

I don't like to hear stories like the one in the opening post. I heard something about it this morning but few details. It happened at a community close to where we farm. Familiar last name to me. So sad.
