Quick history. New to me 2017 Case 9240 combine, close to 1300 threshing hours. Has been running good. Monday night all of a sudden the motor starts surging, stop do a walk around, everything looks fine. Try again, same thing happens. First thought has to be a fuel filter. Drive back to the yard, change out the primary one down by the fuel tank. Go back to the field, make one pass runs fine, starts again on second pass. Call it a day. Tuesday, check air vents on fuel tanks for plugging, are good. Check flow out of the bottom of each tank, good. Replace secondary fuel filter on the motor. Off to combine. Runs perfect all day, must have been the problem. Gets dark, turn on the lights, one pass and starts surging again, wtf. Turn the lights off, runs fine, turn lights on, surging again. But here is where it gets really baffling, first position on lights, no chopper lights, no tank light, 2 less cab lights, runs fine, position 2, turns on those lights and combine surges again. So where to start looking. Suddenly both my son and I remember the tank light wasn’t hooked up when we bought the combine, seemed odd. It ran fine for about a week with the light hooked up. Long story short, disconnected the tank light, runs like a top. Local dealer is baffled, as no where in the wiring harnesses do the light circuits cross the fuel shut off or ECM power wires but they could be wrong. Most of my machinery issues nowadays are electrical or sensor issues. Bearings still go but not nearly as often as electrical wires.

Oh boy I believe you.
Mine takes a notion to randomly pick an ACS setting that we can't even find and max the fan and sometimes close the sieves.
Don't bump that little air restrictor sensor on the air filter housing. It'll break and cost you $2500.
On our fourth warranty on header lift valve.
Good t know about the tank light lol.

We had same, ECU wires under rubber clamp wore and shorted on a MacDon 1170 with Cummins! Derated had a intake air pressure code. Nothing of the sort! Caused a bogus code.
Also this swather and S690 DEF level gauges are STUCK never change. We add DEF and they run fine. Repair part $4000 for S690...like he ll that will happen! Totally ridiculous!
DELETE every thing and phuck the climate! F the EPA and climate NAZIS!

Probably doesn't need anything deleted ?
I we think CHINA EV 's are going to be marketable, what about the mothercorp knock offs?
Reported available in our competitor Brazil?
"Yeah you can buy one in Brazil for 1/4 the money for what the Deere cost you and no Tier 4 emissions ."
Looks odd with that 24 ft head?

We bought a Chinese loader.
New, Chinese Cummins, no emissions. Not nearly as rough as a Belarus. But for 1/4 - 1/3 the price its still enough $.
No dealer, no parts or service.
We have likely become the highest machine cost wheat/canola growers in the world, I don't know.
On the other hand I believe we are very efficient production wise comparatively. And I don't need to have a one machine in four being fixed in the field either. Or extra employees.

We have a neighbor who runs four 25 yr old combines. He is a gearhead who has modified them beyond recognition. He runs all his various heads without any electronics.
He has a fully stocked repair trailer and it is parked beside one of them all fall. His stubble and trash is a mess and his loss can't be 0.3 / ac.
Single tires for compaction. Wages per ac double.
That's what I envision when I look at a Chinese combine.
They have had oem sponsored knock of factories for decades. They have also imported the latest tech all along.
We may be paying full price to develop all the latest "best" tech that doesn't always work and is then given away to other countries. Yes.
But we don't have access to endless cheap labor either. Yet.
When farms are large enough to have flip flop combine jockeys, you will see chinese like combines. Until autonomy tech improves.
