    Alberta ReferenDumb

I see one band of traitors were busy releasing their referendum question yesterday on Alberta separation. Led by Jefferey Rath, a caricature of what an Alberta separatist looks like.

A5 are you a member of this fantasy libertarian group? Sounds like your kind of organization!

Dressed up in their best cowboy hats, you can tell they have already lost the PR battle.

They are already dreaming the absurdly impossible and still want the Canadian passport and CPP? How does that work in an independent country?

Get a load of this crap from the Alberta Prosperity Project!

"Residents of an independent Alberta would see oil and gas development double within five years, a free-market free-trade agreement with the United States, and a flat 10 per cent income and corporate tax, while being able to keep their Canadian passports and Canada Pension Plan entitlements."

Jason Kenney called Jefferey Rath a kook a while back. That about sums it up!

Danny Smith's goal is make sure another western separatist party doesn't get going in Alberta and split the vote. So she is throwing the fringe separatists a bone.

With several competing groups falling all over this, it's going to be fun to watch after 28% of Albertan's voted for the Liberals!

The polls were remarkably accurate on the election and likely accurate on separation.

If so, that is roughly 30% of Albertans would support some form of separation.

Not much of chance for an expensive and divisive issue that is a waste of time, unless you are Danny Smith who is worried about losing the next election.

So Chuck2 explain to business plan for renewables. The business plan for oil and gas is fairly obvious. Explain to me the exportable commodity Canada will create by covering land with Chinese solar panels!?!? Or installing Danish or American or Chinese windmills?!?!

The kooks will take away from the issues at hand once again but they need to boil to the surface.
The referendum question plays to rural base. It's politics.
        Mockery however is stupidity.
Chuck's unwavering position and tactics affirms the concept.

Good job on the original slur for the democratic process Chuck, I wonder where you got that from.
Imagine being against freedom, and against democracy, or thinking that they are "dumb".

As for joining this group, which group?

There appears to be at least 9 separatist groups in Alberta. And they seem quite fractured.
          Which should I join?

This kook in particular believes true seperation impossible. And a Quebec like "distinct-ness" as well.
But some kind of severance from Ottawa necessary before Redmonton holds all the power.
There might be more support in the PPE wearing younger crowd than you think.
I don't expect Chuck or Eastern Canada to understand. I don't care. Loyalists really.
I don't care about subsidizing bloated union jobs in dying industries.
I do care about AB exporting jobs through a focus on a raw commodity.

One should note that there were a lot more than taxes at issue for the individual 13 colonies to form the Continental Congress.
And that distance plays a part.
Dinosaurs had a walnut brain 100 yards from there arse. Like the King they failed through constipation.
This kook just wants to kick the King and his representatives in Ottawa to the curb once and for all.

I expect the line of demarcation will be very much a moving target. As the rest of Canada realizes the financial realities of federation without the Golden goose. Once the productive areas realize the tax burden they will face to keep the socialist experiment going, they will defect en mass to the separatist side.

                Will be like Domino's falling.

                    So heres a quick question.

Lets say alberta had a referendum. And it looked like it would pass with a huge voting majority * say. 90%*

What would it take for the federal govt to negotiate in order for Alberta NOT to separate?
i mean. What is alberta after?

im not trying to be a dink. Im albertan. And i get it. I do. I understand some of the sentiment here. And the anger.

But. What would it take for alberta to NOT be angry?

Reformulate equalization so quebec hydro dollars get counted on a different scale?
technically the martimes do receive more equalization payments per capita than quebec.. no?

                    More pipelines to tidewater?
lifting of bill.. c 69 was it?
If pierre had won.. what would the silver bullet be to keep albertans happy? Or are we always just going to feel very unhappy.?

I believe i read an article that formulated if alberta had a 12% sales tax
.. we would get money thru equalization. Anyone else stumbled on that sort of dossier?
