If you haven't figured it out yet cutting government spending during a recession makes the recession worse and in the case of the 1930s the tariffs and austerity made the depression much longer and more difficult.

That's why tRump spent billions during the covid crisis propping up the economy and why Harper spent billions during the 2008 and 2009 financial crisis for the same reason.

The current crisis requires spending as well.
