Trump and Poilievre Breaking the Constituion

At a time when PP need to distance himself from Trump, what does PP do but proclaim that he will use the not withstanding clause to go around the constitutional charter of rights and freedoms and impose multiple life sentences on mass murderers even after the Supreme Court more or less ruled these types of sentences unconstitutional!

Way to go PP, another Trump lite version of breaking the constitution and ignoring the courts! For little actual benefit, except to throw a small bone to the get tough on crime base.

Trump has a already a long list of constitution breaking executive orders on his short road to authoritarian rule and now the mini Putin has recently mused about deporting home grown criminals to foreign jails? What will mini putin think of next next?

They are already deporting students and dual citizens with legitimate student and work visas if they speak out on issues that the supreme leader disagrees with no due process.

Its round them up, ship em out, and ask questions later!

What happened to free speech and the right to protest in the good ole USA?

Attacking judges, journalists, institutions and just about anyone that disagrees or criticizes tRump is right from the authoritarian playbook!

Free speech is only allowed if you agree with supreme leader!

Kim Jong Un and Putin must be proud of their new found friend and ally!

Honest question... what color is the sky in your world? What do you see when you wake up in the morning? Your precious Liberals trampled the rights and freedoms of the entire country and you are worried about the rights of ****ing criminals? Jeezus H Christmas on a candlestick, could the left be any more deranged?? Break the law, rot in a ****ing cell... imagine someone sticking up for absolute pieces of garbage like Bernardo, or that ****ing dude that cut a guy's head off on the bus.... wow... just wow.... I for one cannot wait to see the deportations and lengthy sentences handed down to the low life sacks of shit that will be impacted by this decision!
CC, please please rip into my reply and defend your new BFF Carney or even better, the wonderful Jagoff Singh, see how far left you can go!

The left are always soft on criminals until crime lands on them or their families then they quickly change song books.
Similar scenario with the immigration in the US, the left embraced them into the country until buses started showing up in their upscale neighborhoods.
And let’s not forget the left headed people and the WEF annual meetings when hundreds of private jets land in Davos, but in reality its mostly about flaunting questionable plastic surgery, implants and **** swinging while hiding behind mindless discussions about the evils of a life supporting molecule. Then in true character tell third world counties they will have to continue using wood to cook and heat, which cause severe health risks.
Vote for the left and buy futures in hypocrisy.

Its very clear that some on the far right don't give a shit about human rights or the constitution in either Canada or the US.

The pretend libertarians seem more than willing to take away the rights of citizens and political opponents anyway they think fits their narrow agenda. No wonder many of you guys like Putin and Russia!

Trump is smashing human rights and the constitution and many are cheering him on!

PP is trying to change the subject from his disastrous tRump lite campaign and throw a bone to his base. But judges can designate mass murders as dangerous offenders so that they can never be released. So there is no legitimate reason to use the Not withstanding clause preemptively.

The arbitrary measure of Pierre Poilievre

The Editorial Board
Globe and Mail

"Invoking the notwithstanding clause requires a majority vote of Parliament or provincial legislature. The override lasts five years and can be renewed repeatedly. This is the nuclear option of the Charter and should be considered only when the situation is urgent, and when there are no other options. Mr. Poilievre’s proposal fails on both of those counts.

Are there mass murderers that have been released since the Supreme Court ruling? Are there ones in prison now that are about to walk free? If so, Mr. Poilievre has not identified them. Even if such people did exist, there are ways to keep them behind bars. Violent criminals at high risk of reoffending such as Paul Bernardo have been jailed indefinitely after being designated a dangerous offender. (https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/hghrsk-ffndrs-hndb/index-en.aspx)

By his willingness to override the Charter to achieve an unnecessary objective, Mr. Poilievre revealed a lack of political judgment. He is virtue-signalling toughness on crime rather than proposing serious policy.

In Canada, the notwithstanding clause allows for a sort of push-pull between politicians and judges. The courts can hear challenges to legislation and rein in excesses by government. But the clause allows Parliament to exert its supremacy if a court ruling is so appalling as to shock the conscience.

Consider the clause to be the charter equivalent of a fire axe stored behind glass, with a sign saying ‘break in case of an emergency.’ A person seizing that axe during a blaze would be acting laudably. But politicians who seek to wave that axe around without good reason are irresponsible – a danger to us all.

That's for the Globe and Mail article's Chuck.
Can you post a couple of the articles about Carney and his Wife's dealings with the ChiComs?

Well that criticism of Carney didn't go so well!

Conservative MPs attack Carney for his work at Brookfield. They also invested in its companies

Deputy leader Melissa Lantsman held an undisclosed number of shares in 2024, documents show

Carney says we are done with dealing with the USA.
Orange Man Bad.
We are going to move that $700 billion dollars of exports to the EU.
Big move considering the EU only buys $20 billion now?
The EU is falling apart even with Carney's help.
Can you read this chat Chuck?

The red line is EU gdp.
Like Canada, it has hardly grown at all.
Old company's that have made it great are leaving due to high energy cost and over regulatory.
