    Canola tariffs

Current Chinese tariffs apply to only meal and oil, canola seed is exempt.

The US tariffs will probably apply to everything, plus the US will no longer accept canola for biodiesel credits. killing the very big biodiesel market.

But to hear a lot farmers and Conservative politicians talk, the tariffs and resulting fall in price are all caused by the Chinese EV tariffs and the Federal government?

As Doug Ford says "its just politics"

    Yeah man.
china is not the issue here.

Our " friends" to the south are going to do wayyyy more damage to our farm economy if they enact all the tariffs... than china can ( unless they throw a 100% tariff on canola seed).

It is incredibly absurd that we tariffed their evs ... when teslas are just about as junky as BYDs ( but byds are.less than half for similiar km range and entry level cost ) but we had to follow our largest trading partner ( usa).

THen usa throws all these tariffs on us and we get butt pummelled.
then for some reason canadian farmers want to blame china for a decrease in canola values.... even though USA buys more canola from us.
i dont know why there isnt more outrage from canadian farmers at, specifically, trump and his hogwash ... is it because of our hatred for trudeau and how pierre aligns more with trump?

Its a bit of gaslighting here when various posts ask " where are our farm groups protesting china blah blah" but it should be " how come we arent putting a 1000% export tax on potash to the usa" or " when will our farm groups protest against US tariffs".

China has played this game 100 times... and theyre going to do it 100 more.

Remember. Trump is proposing a tariff on ALL our grain.. lumber.. etc etc

China just did meal and oil.. ( which, i ask, is this not entirely similiar to how a grain company controls its inflow of grain by changing their basis?)
how is that REALLY any different than a country , like china, throwing targeted tariffs up to manipulate grain prices?

Yes the U.S. is proposing to tariff all our grain. As of yet there are no U.S. tariffs applied to our grain. The drop in Canola prices up to now are in reaction to Chinese tariffs to my knowledge..

I said a while back, BIDEN asked TURD to tariff Chinese EV's to save US autos...Turd agreed to SAVE battery plant deals...our $$ he blew on them.

Our fault NOT China's! Biden/Turd started it, Carnage won't remove it....BLAME them three!

Another place I think we have tariffs on to protect mostly American producers is fertilizer?
Obviously Russia but also Morocco phosphate?

Fertilizer went up a lot since 2022?

              Scott Moe:
REGINA — Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says a plan by the United States to restore Russia’s ability to sell fertilizer is a backchannel that funds Ukrainian death and suffering.

“This is the most disturbing action that I think we’ve seen from (U.S. President Donald Trump) since his election,” Moe told legislators Tuesday.

“In essence, what he is doing is funding (Russian President) Vladimir Putin’s regime … and funding the death of Ukrainians.” Advertisement 2
