Harper says accept ‘any level of damage’ for independence

Stephen Harper "I would be prepared to impoverish the country and not be annexed, if that was the option we’re facing," the former prime minister reportedly said.

So where is Pierre Poilievre when it comes to defending Canada? Strangely quiet and reserved for an attack dog!

Instead he has to appease the Trump supporters in his own party!

The CPC has a big "Trump" problem that could cost them the next election.

They sound and look a lot like Trump lite and voters are having none of it!

The Liberals if they get elected again and Ontario and Quebec most likely will vote for them AGAIN ! , then our country will truly be on the ropes!

Honestly , I think this country is already done.

    Thanks to Ontario and Quebec.

All of the current Canadian political parties would cease to exist if we became an American state?

Most of us have patriotic attachment to Canada.

But it only takes a 5 minute glance to see the long and short term economic advantages of being a part of a much stronger and more attractive to business economy.

I agree Galaxie. Canada and US together would be a hell of a world power but the lefties and separatists in Canada would sink the ship first, just like Harper would.

It appears that a majority of Canadians would choose to cut off their nose to spite their face.

            Guilty of being old but.
I remember being taught the cultural mosaic theory.
I recall interprovincial trade barriers my whole career.
            We are selfish patriots...

Everything I hear today has been heard my whole life.
Elections are over before I even vote.

Change the Constitution to encourage one nation.
Or to facilitate regional identities working together equally.
            We have neither.

This latest squall will change nothing. Nor will the next election.

A republic or EU like alliance or a melting pot.
            None will occur.
Too late for the melting pot and power too entrenched for a republic.
There is no thirst for an economic civil war.
So we have what we have, until we don't...
            Deja vu all over again.

Ask yourself this, is the current arrangement worth fighting for?
Would you send your sons to war to defend the current situation?

And we will continue to ignore our geography to spite ourselves.
America will always be our major player one way or another.

The conveniently ignored fact is our constant internal squabbling has been and will continue to be our biggest enemy.
                  Time to shed our piety.
