How much time? As per my previous post, BC truckers have had 16 years to come up with a market based approach. It appears they have succeeded in adding 6 hydrogen trucks, entirely paid for by the government, fueled by hydrogen from traditional sources which would be fossil fuels( for now, they are trying to build a green hydrogen co-facility, with government help). The company who the government bought the vehicles for, is also the same company using government money to make the hydrogen and the filling stations. They created the cure and the disease, and the taxpayer gets to pay for both ends.
Is that a market based solution?

BC has 61000 registered heavy commercial vehicles. In fact, the number has gone up substantially since the CO2 tax was enacted, so it didn't work to dissuade truck traffic for the low emissions canoe alternative.
If it took 16 years to replace 6 of those 61,000 trucks, by 2050, at this rate, if the government continues to fund 100+% of the cost, BC may approach 0.026% of their fleet being zero emissions. Assuming the plant gets built, and the hydrogen doesn't continue to come from fossil fuels. And assuming that no fossil fuels are used to build the refilling infrastructure, and assuming that the trucks are manufactured without using hydrocarbons. And assuming that the total number of trucks in BC doesn't continue to increase much faster than the zero emissions trucks. And assuming that every ribbon cutting ceremony (for milestones such as reaching 10 hydrogen trucks) by executives and bureaucrats isn't attended by those travelling in fossil fuel motorcades and jets. Assuming the trucks last actually that long, and don't meet the same fate as the hydrogen buses, already being sold off. And assuming the company doesn't follow the same path as that other Vancouver hydrogen darling Ballard Power systems. Stock now at $3.69, down from an all time high of $189.

Guiltbow stated yesterday, maybe by 2060 we could see a reduction in C02?

        Answer here then ,CC....

How would a COOLING planet help/save/benefit all life?
Give examples. Like less crops/food/more heating required?

Tell us WHAT is the IDEAL C02, IDEAL climate? when was that?

[QUOTE=chuckChuck;n791342]So the carbon tax is designed to change behaviour and make alternatives more attractive as an incentive to develop alternatives and get off of fossil fuels as much as possible.

Then the question begs to be asked is the carbon tax not working? The federal government in addition to the carbon tax has implemented essentially a second carbon tax with the clean fuel standard. And an onerous regulatory framework including the clean electricity standard, a proposed cap on oil and gas emissions, sales quotas for EV’s, outlawing the sale of ICE vehicles by 2035 plus subsidies on the purchase of EVs. On and on. Why all the regulations if the carbon tax was working?!?!

Thanks to the mild winter, I did not have to plow snow at the remote bin today in order to load some wheat for the cleaner. I would save energy by making milder winters a permanent thing. Block chuck and remove the silly from agri-ville. There is an open survey at environment canuckistan regarding net zero targets. It does have area where you can try to explain to the stupid that CO2 is not a pollutant and that canuckistan needs to undue the damaging green scams now.

Heavy trucking will also change. Alternatives are being used already. The example of retrofitting trucks with electric for example. And hydrogen fuel cells.

Maybe you hadn't noticed Chuck, but around here most of the Heavy trucking is O/O's and lease operators. Not many buy new equipment, much like farmers.
Most are running 5 to 10 yr old trucks.
I expect the same where you live.
Who do you know that is going to buy a new electric or hydrogen powered truck?

Same can be said about the companies becoming more efficient.
Your dreaming if you think multi-nationals are going to absorb those costs.
They always vote with their feet when things get stupid.

              Ain't going to happen.

Yeah and if you are unlucky you will save money in a hot dry summer when you don't have have to spend as much to harvest your poor crop!

So you are cheering on a permanent el nino? C'mon man wake up. Warming oceans will make your winters milder and your summers dryer and hotter. Is that what you really want?

How about before we block Chuck, give him a chance to redeem himself and actually respond to a question.

I asked a few times already, but perhaps he was busy and somehow overlooked them.

As of today, what options does a Canadian trucker have to lower his or her emissions?
BC is far ahead of the rest of us, having 16 years of CO2 tax to incentivize them, what changes have BC truckers made in that time?

If you leave too. Why are you so obsessed with Chuck? Just present facts and everyone can judge who is worth listening too.

Chuck as an individual poster is unique. There is no one poster on here I would agree with 100% of the time. Nor would I choose to listen to them everyday.
Critical thinking is exercised most of the time. Often Chuck is a very fast skim. But his posts aren't the only ones passed over. Merely the most abrasive if you let them. Certainly the most laborious.
One can always find more productive, less irritating things to bide the time.

Interesting that the ones complaining about free speech and plots to silence them are the first to deny others of speech.

Right on. It’s a two way street for sure. We may not agree but can be civil and discuss things. It’s a problem though when the intention is to cause a disturbance and only respond to weak arguments and intentionally not respond to difficult questions except name calling and vitriolic rhetoric, or just plain ignore the conversation and post whatever nonsense akin to a bot. I don’t agree with punting anyone for opposing views but troublemakers are a different story.
