Deep Fakes Will be Used to Influence Federal Election

CBC article this morning - Artificial Intelligence can produce videos that will spew disinformation that can not be detected. Maybe they already are. I remember that at the birth of the computer age people feared this very thing ( that the computer would be used for unintended purposes and the possibilities will be endless and undetectable). It seems like the genie is out of the bottle.

I agree, the internet will become saturated with more disinformation and images as we're already seeing this with CbC.
The advantage will go to politicians who can communicate one on one with the voters without babbling word salad through a loud speaker in a armored car.
      Advantage Poilievre.

The best article I read this morning was on the Toronto Sun by Joe Warmington: “Argentina’s president unleashes anti-woke storm at WEF.”

Favourite quote: “The solution to be proposed by collectivists is not greater freedom but rather greater regulation which creates a downward (spiral) of regulations until we are all poorer and life for all of us depends on a bureaucrat sitting in a luxury office,” said Milei. Sounds to me like he is doing a critique of Justin Trudeau’s government!!!

Argentina looks like it will crash and burn under Milei. And you are quoting the idiot?

Argentina already had crashed and burned, double digit inflation every month before Milei was elected and that is why he was elected!!

I was going to say the same. The crash and burn part was already baked in, and is a fixture of Argentina's economic model.
The difference being that perhaps this time they can rebuild on a more solid foundation, instead of repeating the same socialist lunacy as every past disaster.
Time will tell. I doubt the voters have enough patience to see it through to the logical conclusion, and will turn back to the next socialist who promises the world.

Argentina crashed and burned about 80 yrs ago.
Was once considered one of the richest countries in the world with great natural resources and a hard working population of mostly European immigrants.
When I was there about 20 yrs ago $100USD got you about 270 pesos.
Now $100 USD gets you about 81,000 pesos.
When people get their pay cheque they go buy what they need as quick as possible as it is worth less every day.

Bad and corrupt governments using stupid programs to buy votes so they can keep stealing most of the money.

Latin America's third-biggest economy is facing dire economic challenges after decades of debt and financial mismanagement, with inflation surpassing 160 percent year-on-year and 40 percent of Argentinians living in poverty.Jan

Sounds like they need more socialism. The equal distribution of poverty hasn't quite been achieved yet if only 40% are living in poverty.
