Was it incompetence or they just don't care.

Ottawa will be getting a $40 million refund after it gave Quebec City-based biopharmaceutical company Medicago more than $300 million to develop and manufacture a home-grown COVID-19 vaccine that never made it to market.

another 250 large of taxpayers money against the wall.

That is a better return than what Danielle Smith got from her Turkish Tylenol deal.

"Liberal and NDP MPs voted against a Conservative motion calling for the release of unredacted copies of the Medicago COVID-19 vaccine contracts to the public.

Tory MPs on the Standing Committee on Health (HESA) called an emergency meeting Jan. 19 to vote on a motion ordering the production of unredacted copies of the vaccine contracts between the federal government and the now-defunct COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer Medicago.

“Here we are now having the taxpayers of Canada on the hook for over $300 million,” said Conservative MP Stephen Ellis, who introduced the motion to the committee. “What we’re asking for here, on behalf of the taxpayers of Canada, is for clarity.”

The ownership of taxpayer-funded research reverted to Medicago’s Japanese parent company, Mitsubishi Chemical Group.

?Economic Development Minister François-Philippe announced in December 2023 (https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/agreement-reached-on-retaining-medicago-s-strategic-research-and-development-assets-in-canada-and-recovering-payment-from-medicago-874284570.html) that Mitsubishi agreed to return $40 million to the Canadian government. The company also agreed to transfer key Medicago research assets, intellectual property, and equipment from Medicago to Aramis Biotechnologies, a new Quebec-based company led by former Medicago employees.?

Conservative MP Rick Perkins told MPs on HESA that Canadians deserved to know why the government spent hundreds of millions of dollars on vaccines that were never delivered. He said if members on the committee voted against the motion to review the unredacted contracts, they would be “voting to cover up the Liberal incompetence on [wasting] $300 million of taxpayer money when there is no contractual requirement to do so.”

Very poor decision by the NDP, voters will take Jagmeet to the very crowded crying area behind the wood shed next election.
There will be some who will be pleased to lose their seats just to get away from the corruption.
I can't imagine being in the house of commons now.

Couldn't think of a better thread than idiot sandwich to post this.
Looks like Chuck went on a carbon neutral holiday, and the other troll threw his toys out of the stroller(thanks Blaithin) and left us for good, again, at least until he reinvents himself under a new alias.
And without the stars of the show, and their valued input, the entire forum goes completely dead.
I suppose we should either take advantage of the calm before the storm, and have a civil adult discussion about something relevant to agriculture. Or else just admit that we are all just here to watch the clowns at the circus make fools of themselves. And admit that without them, it really is no fun.
