    Maple Leaf

    I have been hearing about Maple Leaf cutting back in a big way on hog production and going to a 100% owned system of raising. Is there any fallout happening yet? I have heard Olymel is falling on hard times too with the strong Canadian dollar

      In my humble opinion, any decisions by Maple Leaf will not have the best interests of the primary producer in mind judging by past behaviour.

          Elite Swine is the hog arm of Maple Leaf foods. They haven't been building as many barns in Alberta over the past year or so. Most of the new hog barns in this province are either colonies or some of the huge operations in the Peace.
