    Elected Senate

Martin says he's all for senate reform just doesn't want to do it piecemeal? In reality that means one thing: No elected senate! No effective senate! No equal senate?
And without a doubt it is smart politics because if you allow elected senators, you give them the legitimatesy to become effective? Right now they can't be effective because they are nothing but political hacks appointed by the PMs office who have no legitimate right to thwart a democratically elected parliment?
Ralph Klein wasn't an idiot when he held elections for Alberta senators! He realized it was the only way the colonies could get a regional voice in this eastern dominated "democratic dictatorship"!
Consider our great federal parlimentary system? What Quebec and Ontario want...they get! So if they decide Alberta should "share" the wealth they just vote to take it? Democracy of this sort is nothing more than mob rule?
A triple E senate is about the only thing that might save this country. Now without a doubt we might lose Quebec in the process...but I have to ask...is that a bad thing?
For the last 50 years the tail has been wagging the dog in this country. Maybe its time for a change?

Wouldn't it be better to have a triple E senate (or equivalent) as a check and balance, than the regional threats of separation that are being used now. It makes Canada a much weaker country in my humble opinion.

If only Canadians had the stomach for change.

Just to play the devel Why would anyone give up power isnt that what capatilisim is all about to be able to lord it over your underlings.
There is so much empire building that it makes one wonder why even try unless you are one of those trying to rule at least in your world.

Capitalism without a social conscience is a bad thing. Power corrupts... period. It takes a strong man to resist?
At the end of the day what has the capitalist achieved if he has lost his soul? You really can't take it with you and you do go into the grave with nothing...just like you came into this world?
In the bible God said" To whom much is given...much is required of thee". I would say those are words to live by?
The old time capitalists were builders who did good things for the country and people living there? They might have been completely greedy and the good they did was really just a byproduct of that greed. Today it seems many of the wealthiest are not builders at all but make their billions by usury, buying off politicians, the hostile takeover, and predatory business practices? They really don't contribute anything to the country.
A Conrad Black would be a good example? Is it any wonder that quite often these "parasites" end up being charged with fraud, bribery, racketeering, money laundering? The day of the capitalist being regarded as a respectable citizen of the country, who was an example of hard work with a civic responsibility, are largely over? Instead we have these "thugs" who rip off the system and then try to buy some respectability? I would think the Queen should be pretty ashamed today about selling Black a peerage? Lord Black...indeed!

Horse, don't confuse "capitalism" with monopoly...there is a big difference.

It is this blurring of reality that gives the NDP traction with many who can't think for them selves.

What is the diference between Monoply and capitalisim?
A monoply is just a capitalist that has his business plan complete.

              That is nonsense!

A monopoly uses government to regulate and prevent competition.

"Capitalisim" means we all play by the same rules. No advantage given to one, more than the other, by the state.

Your beef should most likly be directed at government than business or "capitalists"!!
