    Farm deaths

I hope you all dont take this in bad taste but I have watched and heard nothing but the 4 Mounties being killed for 2 weeks now and I do agree that is a tragity BUT when you figure that we loose almost as many farmers in one yr as the force has lost in over 100 yrs and all you hear is one or mabey two anouncments on the news it makes one wonder why we are of no or very little value .
Mebey we should do a little better job of marketing ourselves .

There are some very strong worded advertisements on the radio lately about farm safety, which is where any prevention of deaths in the agricultural industry has to begin. I don't think that the media attention for the RCMP officers was unreasonable given the situation. Farm deaths make news as well, and many times there are follow up stories in the papers, but they are not caused by criminal activities, which makes a difference.

Please don't misunderstand what I'm going to say....... My wife thinks that its kind of criminal the length of days farmers are expect to work for the "wages" that we make to pay for the outragous bills that we incurr in the name of farming.

But seriously, farming is a dangerous business, and we have to remember that in the few minutes that we take sometimes to gobble down our meals in harvest time, or in the spring........ Take the time to tell your spouse or kids........that you love them.
