But you wholly support Trudeau’s carbon tax unequivocally….Originally posted by newguy View PostBill Boyd passed out alot of blinders the last time he ran and many are still wearing them.Like I said before Moe will grab more taxes through his new tax department than any government and not lose one vote.

Yes Moe needs to back off , and any sane middle class worker can see the damage being done by the Liberals wealth redistribution scheme in the carbon tax

We have a progressive tax system which does a much better job at wealth redistribution.

"Trevor Tombe, the University of Calgary economist, According to his calculations, these knock-ons do add to the impact of inflation, but they certainly don't double or triple the blow. In Ontario, the direct and indirect effects inflate prices by 0.207 per cent a year. In Alberta, it's 0.1875 per cent.Last edited by chuckChuck; Oct 12, 2023, 07:34.

The fact the he considers this to be ineffective tells you how much further they want to take this tax.

90% of the carbon tax is returned to consumers so no its not a very effective at wealth redistribution and that is not what it was designed to do anyway. And it has a very small impact on inflation compared to other sources of inflation.

The oil companies are much better at wealth redistribution. They make record profits from consumers and give a a much smaller group of of relatively well off sharehoders the majority of the benefits. Many of whom don't live in Canada. I am still waiting for a rebate from the oil companies!

And farmers receive taxpayers support and subsidies another example of wealth redistribution. If you are opposed to wealth redistribution are you going to send back your subsidies?

So is Crypto going to get rid of our progressive federal tax system? LOLLast edited by chuckChuck; Oct 12, 2023, 08:05.

Except your argument is the carbon tax kills the economy because it raises energy prices!Originally posted by blackpowder View PostWe cash in our oil rebate from investments in a healthy economy with every pension check.
Comparing any tax or govt program to private enterprise is just silly. Sadly they don't teach this in schools so most people believe you.

But when the market and OPEC raises energy costs this is good for the economy and consumers? LOL

You can't have it both ways!

The oil industry is important to the economy but the excess profits go to shareholders in a massive transfer of wealth mostly to those who are already well off.
