Any oil and gas project has to put funds into a kitty for future indemnities. Orphans exist because this mechanism did not exist at that time. If renewable producers want to be truly green and responsible operating under the same structure shouldn’t be a problem. It isn’t like they have to spend the huge sums to properly cap the well and remediate the lease site. Shouldn’t be any contaminated dirt to deal with neither. The wind turbines I understand might be a bit more work to remediate as the concrete bases are big and deep understandably. There is nothing wrong with ensuring companies don’t cut and run leaving a mess. I do not understand why you consider this a double standard.

Are you for real ?Originally posted by chuckChuck View PostYou gotta laugh that Danny Smith decided to halt renewable energy projects in part to make sure they are funded for clean up? Huh?
In the province that has billions of dollars of unfunded oil sites to clean up that they want to taxpayers to pay for?
What a double standard nut case!
Hilarious!
Did Danny cause the problem ?
Should she let them do it again with this Chinese steel/garbage/plastic/CARBON, YES CARBON fibre blades , and thousands upon thousand yards of concrete ?
WTF is wrong with you ?

Is Danny going to halt approvals for more oil development untill they figure out who is going to pay for cleaning up all the oil wells and the tar sands and where the new facilities should be located? Hell no! LOL
And I didn't say there shouldn't be a plan for end of life renewable energy sites and materials or that locations should be carefully chosen.
But why make the rules for new renewable energy sites more stringent when you continue to have weak or almost non existent rules for the oil industry? She wants taxpayers to pay for the small percentage that will be cleaned up.
In the province that claims to be open for business, she wants to add more red tape and interfere in the affairs of private landowners and energy companies? LOL
More Alberta politics with the usual conservative double standard.

You suffer from cognitive dissonance or are just here to spew bs? Your statement is bs and you damn well know it. You’re not that dumb.Originally posted by chuckChuck View PostIs Danny going to halt approvals for more oil development untill they figure out who is going to pay for cleaning up all the oil wells and the tar sands and where the new facilities should be located? The Canadian/Alberta oil patch is one of the most highly regulated in the world .Originally posted by chuckChuck View PostIs Danny going to halt approvals for more oil development untill they figure out who is going to pay for cleaning up all the oil wells and the tar sands and where the new facilities should be located? I give people the benefit of the doubt. Someone can appear to be the biggest asshole or piece of crap but you don’t know how crappy their home life was which causes them to act this way or perhaps other factors. I’ve been nasty with Glenn at times here but if we were face to face it would be a different encounter. I do not know what sparks him to be such an irritant here. I am not going to speculate but wonder why. Takes some serious dedication like that of a Russian milblogger.Originally posted by AlbertaFarmer5 View PostAlmost brought tears to my eyes, that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to chuck.
