Easy for you to say but you didn't grow up on a reserve where the social dysfunction and problems are huge impediments to even graduating high school let alone attending university or college.

So suggesting that relatively poor kids from dysfunctional families are going to overcome all the obstacles and succeed is unlikely. Not impossible but much less likely.

Having a trained teacher in the family who can teach at home is a large advantage in most families.

If your parents have post secondary education then you are more likely to succeed at university and college.

And that's just not the case on most reserves.

True, for sure but I am friend to a native fellow who never even saw the inside of a classroom until he was nine, was taken in by two school teachers, finished university and became a golf pro. He has played professional circuit and has has about four score holes in one. He is living the life! just saying, his outlook on life is absolutely incredible.

Unfortunately that is not the way it works now. Give an endowment and voila! Conservatives in U.S. were all bent out of shape because a few minorities got the same deal. Now there is a lawsuit over privilege.
