On Match 29, 2023 bill C-234 passed 3rd reading. This is a private members bill which will eliminate the carbon tax on natural gas used in on farm grain dryers and in agricultural livestock buildings and I believe greenhouses. The vote was 176 yeas 146 nays. The next time Justin Trudeau says he has your back, as a farmer remember this vote, as he and the other Liberal’s voted against this bill! In March natural gas on my heating bill was $2.35 a gigajoule, the carbon tax was $2.626 per gigajoule. As of April 1 the carbon tax went up to $3.417 a gigajoule. The carbon tax was the biggest line item on my March bill. So the next time you hear a Liberal saying he has your back be careful he really only wants to bend your over and we’ll you know the rest! Liberal’s are not farmers friends!

hamloc, this has to get past the Senate and that usually takes a couple months. Unlikely before parliament closes up in June. And we could be in an election in the fall as the NDP will likely pull support.Comment
