The attack on transgender LGBQT+ kids and people is endangering their lives and affecting their mental health and putting them at risk of more suicides.
How they live their life that has nothing to do with yours and is none of your business.
Several of his Conservative cabinet ministers are totally against what Premier Higgs of New Brunswick plans for changes to the the law that schools support transgender kids and gives them a safe place.
He will lose the next election.
The attack on transgender people is just more far right hysteria flowing north.

N.B. Premier Blaine Higgs faces caucus revolt over education policy on pronouns
Teachers in New Brunswick will no longer be obligated to use the preferred pronouns or names of transgender or non-binary students under age 16, under a policy change that led to a revolt among Premier Blaine Higgs’ Progressive Conservatives after it was introduced on Thursday.
The change alters a policy the province originally introduced in 2020, which required school personnel to use students’ preferred names and pronouns.
In the face of the uprising, which included six ministers in Mr. Higgs’ 18-member cabinet and two backbenchers, the Premier held fast, suggesting that the issue could force an election.
Transgender rights in classrooms have in recent years been a flashpoint in the United States, and are increasingly being debated at school boards in Canada. Advocates for transgender and non-binary students in New Brunswick have stressed that children should be able to express their gender identities without involvement from their parents, who may not be supportive. Opponents have said parents have a right to be informed of significant developments in their children’s lives.
Gail Costello, co-chair of Pride in Education, a non-profit group of New Brunswick teachers that advocates for LGBTQ students, allies and staff, said the change is reckless and harmful to children. “Our government has turned this into a parents’ rights situation at all costs,†she said, adding that the vast majority of teachers already use kids’ preferred names and pronouns because it’s the right thing to do.
“It’s a dangerous combination of ignorance and power that we have here, and you put those two together and you end up with kids losing some of their human rights,†said Ms. Costello, who retired last year from teaching at Oromocto High School, near Fredericton, N.B. “These policies save lives.â€
Kelly Lamrock, New Brunswick’s child and youth advocate, previously released a scathing report on the province’s plan to review the original policy, criticizing evidence in e-mails provided by the province that showed online hoaxes and conspiracy theories were fuelling some of the opposition. Mr. Lamrock said he plans to provide legislative analysis to the provincial assembly.

The far right’s persecution of the trans community risks all the gains made in securing LGBTQ rights
This Friday, anti-trans activist Chris Elston (â€Billboard Chrisâ€) will demonstrate in front of an Ottawa school, accompanied by supporters.
“We have children who are being indoctrinated … to believe that it is stereotypes that determine their sex or their gender,†he says in a video online. Mr. Elston carries around a sign that reads, “Children are never born in the wrong body.â€
This is vile.
Unable to force women to surrender control over their bodies, unable to force gay men and women back into the closet, unable to force their perversion of Christianity onto the rest of us, the far right has decided to go after trans people.
Those who are transgender or non-binary make up about 10 per cent of the one million LGBTQ+ people in Canada, according to Statistics Canada. That they are relatively few in number makes it even more important that we stand with them against Billboard Chris and his ilk.
In the United States, social conservatives thought they had scored a huge political win in 2022 when the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, which protected a woman’s right to an abortion.
But it turned out that most Americans support that right, and many anti-abortion Republicans did poorly in last fall’s midterm elections. Needing another imaginary villain, the far right ramped up its persecution of the trans community.
The warped thinking goes something like this: Everyone belongs to the gender they were born with, but woke ideologists, preying on some young minds, insist that people can change their gender. They “groom†these confused children, persuading them to take puberty-blocking drugs and undergo life-altering surgery.
“They’re literally chopping off the private parts of young kids, and that’s wrong,†says Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
When challenged last August by the fact-checking site Politifact, the Governor’s office was able to produce two cases of teens in the U.S., one 15 and one 17, who had received gender transition-related surgeries.

If the transgender community represents only a fraction of the LGBTQ+ community, if surgical or chemical intervention in young children is not medically approved, if interventions are exceedingly rare at the adolescent stage – and then only for teens who truly need such treatment – then why is the far right flogging this issue?
When seeking to stoke social divisions, “you target the Other,†says Kristopher Wells, Canada Research Chair for the Public Understanding of Sexual and Gender Minority Youth at Edmonton’s MacEwan University. “And who is most Other right now? Those who are trans, gender diverse, because they are also the least understood.â€
This campaign is hatefully reminiscent of a not-so-recent past when homosexual teachers lived in fear and the closet because bigots thought they were grooming children to become *****.
It preys on understandable confusion among parents who fully support the rights of sexual minorities, but who wonder about trans athletes competing against their daughters in sports and using their locker rooms.
And it stokes divisions within the LGBTQ+ community. Middle-class gay folk have largely secured legal protection and, especially in large cities, social acceptance. It can be tempting to seek distance from trans-rights activists, some of whom do push boundaries, stoke confrontation and reject societal norms.
“It’s cleaving the gender identity, gender expression, the trans community off from the lesbian, gay, bisexual community,†Prof. Wells says.
This is a dangerous trap. All ***** people remain at risk from social conservatives. Florida has completely banned lessons on sexual or gender identity from the state’s sexual-education curriculum for all grades. Some states are banning drag shows.
In both the U.S. and Canada, parents seek to ban books with LGBTQ+ themes or characters from libraries and to ban schools from flying the Pride flag. People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier, who is running for a seat in the Portage–Lisgar by-election, spouts transphobic rhetoric.
Things are starting to turn violent. In California on Tuesday, fights broke out after hundreds of pro- and anti-LGBTQ+ rights activists protested outside school-board offices.
Trans rights are human rights. Disagreements within the LGBTQ+ community must never overshadow unity against those who despise all sexual and gender minorities.
Everything that has been gained could be lost if the Ron DeSantises and the Billboard Chrises have their way.

Meanwhile in Canada, Melissa Lantsman Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, appointed by Pierre Poilievre and openly gay and married to another woman, celebrates pride month on Twitter.
Melissa Lantsman
@MelissaLantsman
Happy #PrideMonth as we celebrate the freedom to be who you are and love who you choose.
Seventy countries around the world continue to criminalize homosexuality, and in more than dozen — the punishment is the death penalty.
The commitment to uphold the rights of LGBT people globally, their right to life, freedom & safety is our renewed challenge. Canada should be a safe haven. 🇨🇦ðŸ³ï¸*🌈
Freedom means freedom for everyone. Pride is for everyone.#HappyPrideMonth

Looks like the anti LGBQT+ haters and bigots have lost the culture war already. When the largest Conservative party that is quite likely to form the next government, supports pride month, what chance do the small number of so cons have in changing decades of support and policies for LGBQT+ people in canada? The answer is no chance in hell! LOL
If they follow that path they will lose a lot of MPs and never win another election. Premier Blaine Higs had a caucus revolt over the issue. A lot of his own cabinet walked on the issue.
Here is another Conservative Party Of Canada Member of parliament celebrating pride month on Twitter:
Eric Duncan

During Pride Month, I’m reminded of how blessed I am for the freedom & support I enjoy.
And I’m grateful for the generations of men & women who came out at a time when it wasn’t easy at all.
They made it better for Canadians like me to be who I am.Last edited by chuckChuck; Jun 11, 2023, 08:08.

Our society is so judgemental. Who cares? If people are happy living with some one of the same gender, great. It’s the ones who marry the opposite sex and drive their husbands/wives to destroy themselves that I
really despise. There are married people who make their mate’s life a living hell. Live and let live, that’s how I feel.
Our good friend’s daughter has married another woman. They are both Olympic hockey players and life seems to be going pretty well. They have a condo in Calgary, a new cottage in Montana and just bought a ski chalet in Kimberley. They are about 45 now and have been married for about five years. It takes all types.

(might be cheaper than raising kids) 🥴 But the other thing is, when they are old, who is going to walk through the doors saying, “ How you doing? Need a hand with something? Love Youâ€.
