So-called contracts for difference set a price on tradable carbon credits, which heavy emitters can get if they reduce pollution. If the market price for the credit falls below the minimum in the contract, the government would make up the difference".

Once the big companies make big investments this BS is entrenched and there is no going back.
They can't admit they pissed all that money away on nothing. Even if it was to take advantage of 100% deductions or big government incentives.

    We are probably already there.

Not sure why my Gphone can't get photos to this site.
            Anyways.
Proxy vote form for BRK.B shareholders came today.
All shareholder proposals for governance, measurement, reporting, effectiveness blah blah, on emissions, climate risks, D.I.E., board recommends against.
Looks like some people still know how to be both responsible and responsible for their money.
Our government and it's supporters sound like preschool teachers. No offense to teachers intended.

              Think on it.
It's taken a 100 years to perfect the ICE and automobile to the point it is today and it's still improving exponentially. The electric car has also been in existence for about one hundred years. I would think that if indeed the electric car made economic sense it would have advanced at a much faster pace. There is room and a place for electric vehicles and a free market economy will decide when that time is. There is so little pollution with a modern vehicle with an ICE that you will die of a lack of oxygen rather than CO poisoning if you tried to commit suicide...to a point when the oxygen sensor fails to sense oxygen, and CO2 is only beneficial to the planet.

Huh? ICEs still produce large amounts of carbon monoxide that will kill you if left running in an enclosed space. Don't test your ill informed theory at home.

Air pollution from transportation is still a big problem in and around cities. Air pollution causes lots of health problems especially for those who live closest to busy highways. A quick search on the web produces lots of research on the negative health effects of air pollution.

EVs are going to help clean up this ICE air pollution.

The market is rapidly shifting to EVs. And EV technology will rapidly improve as automakers compete for market share. The total energy efficiency gains of EVs are very dramatic. All explained in the articles I posted above. ICEs 20% vs EVS 80% effcicent!

Market share. Thing is, how is demand being created in the market?

The same way market share for overpriced luxury trucks have made the F150 one of the most popular vehicles tops in sales.

Most smaller EVs are priced below the cost of a lot of overpriced trucks. Of course if you need a truck electric options are less available.

Car companies make a lot of their profit off of overpriced trucks so they will have to adjust.

Mandates will also play a role. But many consumers want and EV as soon as they can get one.

Its early and Tesla is already dropping their prices to compete with the competition.

On the "green" side you have massive subsidies starting at the mining and production of the raw materials, manufacturing ,sales ,and consumer /end user.
Also subsidies to make power available to charge them.
I'm sure I missed or am unaware of others.

ICE are taxed at every possible opportunity .

The oil industry and automotive industry have both been recipients of incentives and subsidies for decades. Long before EVs showed up again.

Supports for a revenue generating industry that exists from a natural demand. An economic engine. That generates taxable, new dollars, real income at all levels for all participants.
Compared to an as yet artificial industry existing solely on legislated demand. Creating no new, exportable, real income. That ignores supply of storage and transmission technology along with infrastructure, all decades away.
Not sure why Socialism's default is push economics when demand pull is proven. Or why they support subsidization for their business but not another.
Survivorship bias can hide the real solutions on new energies. Focusing on the "seen". We are pushing 2030 electrical demands on 1950s technology. Server demand alone barely sustainable. While choking the only golden goose we have.
If all the naturally generated dollars that are on spin cycle making phony dollars were spent on new energies research I would support it.
The Dunce in Economics Class is in the lead and running amok while 2/3 of the planet watches and salivates. Some posts on here leave me dumbfounded.

Pay him no mind BP, his is gone. F150 EV is a city mans virtue signal and testosterone compensator, nothing else.

And $25-30,000 more than a similar equipped F150
Never ever pay for itself. Add in 1/2 the range as advertised and it becomes very expensive to own
