So 1 btu is equal to .293watts. Typical average home has a 100k btu natural gas furnace. So 29300watts/240v= 122amps. Typical homes have 100amp services that should go over really well. The grid would have to be redesigned right from a$$hole to appetite.

Even a 200amp service, 120 amps for the furnace heating element, 40 amps for a hot water heater, already at the 80% maximum base load of 160amps without having a single light, clothes dryer, oven on.....EV pulling 50amps definetely not.

At 12 cents a kwh electrical heat is approx 400% the cost of nat gas. Next on the chopping block wood stoves.
