Large Haitian community in Quebec and therefore a bit of involvement by quebecers there or at least some intimate knowledge of the inherent mess of a country that it is. It was a vassal state of the Americans for years and ****d and pillaged by the French before that. Americans propped up the Duvaliers for their own business interests and to make sure Soviet and Cuban influence didn’t turn it into a Soviet vassal. It’s a perpetual mess like an Afghanistan of the americas.
