'I don't need this job': Kenney says he has to stay to keep 'lunatics' from 'trying to take over the asylum'

Kenney's tone gets more serious toward the end of the recording.

"I will not let this mainstream conservative party become an agent for extreme, hateful, intolerant, bigoted and crazy views. Sorry to be so blunt with you but you need to understand what the stakes are here," he said.

"The lunatics are trying to take over the asylum. And I'm not going to let them."

Sounds like Jason Kenney was talking about some of the posters on Agrisilly! LOL

    Ha CBC.

I guess fighting climate clowns and marxist radicals might as well be racist. No card left to play.

Kenny should have fought for his province instead of rolling over every time.

I agree Jazz, that goes for all of the politicians except, Moe tried (a bit) to offer accurate information. Premiers had many a chance to provide accurate details yet they allowed the self-called ‘experts’ slant the news to promote scare tactics and fuel the fear that poisoned our civilization for more than two years. It was their choice to allow the garbage rhetoric.

The provinces have the Not Withstanding Clause at their disposal. if Quebec can use it to keep Hijabs out of the classroom, then we can use it to stop an unfair carbon tax and equalization.

The charter and the constitution are just guidelines anyway like we found out during covid.

Whats Trudeau going to do to us, steal more of our money? Cut health transfers more.

Sum, you could see Moe wavering back in October already. He gave into the commie expert doctors because CBC was running hit pieces hourly, but he started to back track way before anyone else. Took a while to get there for him, but he has my respect. Kenny had to have his feet held to the fire.

Invoke the NWS and let Trudeau go to the SCC and stop us. That will take a couple yrs.

Again with insults aimed at fellow posters. Chuck2 you certainly aren’t the only one who insults fellow posters but I am curious do you think it helps get your message across?

You shouldn't be insulted unless you think you are one of the lunatics that Kenney was talking about?

But its pretty interesting that a Conservative like Kenney points out how far out to lunch many of the lunatic fringe are even the ones in his own party.

I tend to agree there are lunatics in the conservative ranks just like in the liberal and most definitely ndp. Neither your nor I are albertans but we get a fair amount of Alberta news. Navel gazing is different than living there. From family members in Alberta he has been a disappointment in terms of flip flopping, being full of shit, and not effectively defending Alberta from the feds. Think it comes down to him being a closeted homosexual who hates homosexuals. Trying to hide this to appease the homophobic bible thumpers which he thinks are his base. When you live a lie how can you lead effectively without those issues working through?

He's a federal politician in a provincial position. No one gives a damn about how the ROC thinks about us anymore. He never could understand that.
Without a proper senate function, all the regions have is their premiers.
                All hat, no cattle.

I will say, keeping votes in Edmonton while appeasing the rest of us likely impossible. A seats game.

The political differences between Edmonton and the rest of Alberta are about the same as the differences between the three Prairie provinces and the rest of Canada!

More importantly Kenney admits that there are some really kooky people in Alberta with conspiracy theories and right wing extremist views that don't fit into any serious party.

"Preston Manning used to say that a bright light attracts a few bugs, well, there's more than a few bugs attracted to us, this party, right now."

We can see how that plays out in real time right here on Agrisilly.

Instead of asking why one specific party seems to attract such poor quality candidates. We should be asking why this politics in general seem to attract the scum of the Earth.
What better example than our very own Chuck chuck. The only member of agriville as far as I know who has run unsuccessfully for public office, and successfully for CWB office. Is he representative of the quality of lunatics who are willing to expose themselves to public office?

Is it just the fact that none of us rational people with any sense of self-worth are willing to expose ourselves , our families and businesses to the incessant barrage of insults and scrutiny?
No party seems to have a monopoly on Wacko's and extremists. Although the NDP and greens seem to be trying very hard to take first place.

                          Don’t worry Chuck
There are some really kooky left wing people also in all provinces so it kind of balances out. Also some really kooky left wing people posting on Agrisilly!
What scares me is the kooky left wing extremist that have taken over the government of Canada!

Its no surprise that those who disagree with a particular party or point of view are going to call their opponents loony.

But in Kenney's case he is calling some of the extremists in his own party loons and extremists.

Like the ones who openly brought tiki torches to an anti vax and anti mask protest at the legislature February 20, 2021 knowing full well that they are symbol of white nationalists and white supremacists.

Tiki torches gained notoriety as a symbol of hate after they were used at demonstrations by white nationalists in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017.

Kenney said "Prominent racists promoted Saturday's protest at the legislature, and individuals attended the event from known hate groups like the 'Soldiers of Odin' and 'Urban Infidels.' I condemn these voices of bigotry in the strongest possible terms."

Kenney, Alberta and all Canadians have every right to concerned about the right wing extremists and bigots in the UCP.

Chuck2 are you perhaps a member of the NDP Socialist Caucus? A left wing group inside the NDP which believes that the NDP has moved to far to the right?

Leger Marketing conducted a poll March 18-20 that found Brian Jean would do better against Rachel Notley than Jason Kenney in a provincial election. Puts a bit of a hole in Kenney’s narrative!
