A friend told me a video is now on youtube of the deep plow that was built. Basically a logging contractor/farmer bought approx 15 quarters of peat land at the gov. Land auction....likely cost around 20k/quarter. I had mentioned to a relative of his that the hutterites at sunny bend (near westlock) had a peat moss plow. He went and rented that plow then later built the plow in this video.

Why Not Use a Normal Plow???? Each Of These Units Could Pull a Decent Size Plow, This Seems Very Unproductive!!!!!! But What da Hell Do I Know!!!!!!

Well its plowing about 6 feet deep and they are burrying any stumps / wood from trees that were there. Second reason is they are bringing up a mineral layer improving the otherwise all pete soil.

I guess I am doing it wrong. I've been trying to bring some peat soil into production. And I don't find that it needs any mineral soil in order to produce, and it grows incredibly. And the blue clay that always underlays the peat here, isn't something I would want anywhere. I also find that the stumps aren't decomposed at any depth, so turning them under wouldn't help that, it would just bring up millenia old stumps.

I'd like to see how they drained the land so effectively, any idea?

Land lively isn't being ditched / drained much. Once the tree canopy is removed it is amazing how much land dries out.
