I thought the STATSCAN average yield was high, but in the NW our percentage of field affected by disease may be serving to give me an in my backyard view of averages.

However, I am not convinced the carry over is as high as indicated with the recent strong bids from US demand at very good prices to fall bids, serving to sweep the bins clean.

      Farmaholic,

We have plenty enough socialist genetic material here in Alberta from you folks; proof enough was our last provincial election. The PC's were so socialist... they made the NDP and Liberal alliance look right wing!

I think they alone (the SK genetic pool) got REDford elected!

You had better count on an alternate reality to make that fantasy come true!

Right leaning farmers are less than half a percent of the population.

Good luck with that in winning an election in Canada.

Private estimates of US corn and soybean yields, ahead of the August 12 monthly USDA supply-demand report, unanimously point to massive yields and production. The average of numerous estimates for soybean yield is 45.5 bushels per acre for a harvest of 3.82 billion bushels, compared to USDA July projections of 45.2 and 3.80 billion. For corn, yield is estimated at 170.2 and production at 14.25 billion compared to USDA’s 165.3 and 13.86 billion.

Strategie Grains, a French market analyst, raised its estimate of the EU ****seed crop to 22.9 million tonnes from 22.5 a month ago and 21.1 mil- lion in 2013. It put average yield 3.40 tonnes per hectare or 60.7 bush- els per acre.

The Gitxsan Indian band in northwestern BC last week issued an eviction order to the CNR to cease operations in its territory, as well as to forestry companies, tourists and government agencies. The rail line to Prince Rupert crosses through the 22,000 square mile reservation, which is the object of a treaty dispute with the federal and provincial governments.

Russia imposes its own trade sanctions on those who feed it
The maniacal Russian dictator Putin last week announced restric- tions on agricultural imports from countries that have applied or sup- port economic sanctions against Russia over its adventures in Ukraine. The ban, which is illegal under WTO rules, could be in effect for up to a year. Officials were told to prepare a list of western food and agricultural goods to be targetted (except wine and baby food). Ac- knowledging that consumer food prices could rise, measures to stabi- lize commodity prices and prevent food price inflation are also being considered. Russian authorities have already banned fruit and vegetable imports from Poland on alleged food safety issues. The ban will apply to Canada, the US and all EU countries, though not on all their products. Ca- nadian food exports to Russia are worth about $650 million a year, in- cluding $200 million worth of pork, which are already restricted over the phony ractopamine issue. Russia is 31st on the list of US export destinations, but second on Europe’s.

"It takes a really stupid leader, even of a neo-communist autocracy, to mix food and geopolitics. The action will hurt Russian consumers more than western exporters. Shortages of some foods will develop for the first time in 20 years. For all its might, Russia is not self-sufficient in basic foods other than raw grains."

Might be a little off topic, but if people can find ways to sell arms to the nutcases around the globe, getting food to a starving population shouldn't be much harder.

That or the population will move to a better area of the globe, again. And thanks to all those from the Ukraine and europe that came many years ago, under the same problems.

                        now Tom
do not blame ex sask. patriots.
                        for Redford.

the party of the right always corrupts
                        it self out of office.

here in sask. we booted the conservatives. they had had to change name to sask. party, so folks would forget
federally the con.s had to change to to reform , then back to Conservative .

                        Alberta now has a replacement
right wing party ready , wild rose.
                        waiting for the trough.

                        the way things are going
i would suggest the right get working on a new reformed Wild Oats party .
                        to run federally .

after all the entitled right elite
like mulroney, duffy wallin redford, the old sask con. cabinet .and of course emperor Harper ,will need a
                        name change again.
