    W4 International

My W4 revs only wide open in winter. The govenor oil must be freezing because she runs fine in summer. I don't have a book on it so what oil do I use? & how much? Guessing this likely is all that is wrong?

We also use a W4 for choring and the govenor is lubricated by the oil from the crankcase. We use #10 oil in the winter and #30 oil in the summer. We were having much the same problem as you so I interchaged the govenor with one from a Framall H (they are the same engine)and that solved the problem. The original governor had worn pins and weak springs.

If you have spark, fuel and compression the only think left is timing.
