    Electric motors

I am contemplating putting an electric motor on a 45 foot 8 inch auger. What size of motor would I require? Also how heavy a breaker would I require to run that motor? Has anybody any experience using electric motors for this application when it gets thirty below in the winter?

not as easy as your question poses.

How many volts of power do you intend to run? 110/220/440 etc. The higher the voltage the lower the draw, and the smaller the breaker.

Would be using 220 volts Would a 30 amp breaker be strong enough?

Look at the tag on the motor that you will be running. It will tell you the amps used to run it. A typical 10 horse motor at 220 will draw 21 amps. Be careful though the start surge can and usually does double ( 42 amps)
