    Swather purchase

I'm looking to buy a late model swather, mostly to cut canola. Does anyone have an opinion on good/bad features.

Don't buy a Massey. Had one and could not keep it running for more than a day or two. Hydraulic system slows down and canvases stop or reel stops etc, especially in heavy canola crops. Only good thing about the Massey is that they have a very large opening. If you got the money, and don't want the breakdowns buy a Macdon,(Westward,Prairie Star,or Premier). Options that are very handy are fore and aft on the reel and hydraulic tilt of the header, both works excelent when approaching down or lodged crop.

We have a 400 Versatile that has a modified wide opening, pickup reel and tall tires. It works quite well. It's for sale, if you're interested.
