tips for unstivking a combine

Claas has been stuck since night before last rain. No bottom in this shit... spent 3 days trying to get it out only managed to break tow hook off and dig s lot of holes.


Going to get s trackhoe out there tomorrow and lift the combine out of the ruts. Anyone wanna share your tricks for getting combines unstuck ?

Yes! We had a bad one last year.2 quad tracs couldnt get it out side by side. Make a trail out with the excavator. Then a strap with one quad trac on it and another strap around the hook of the bucket and use the boom and stick to suck out the combine while pulling with the quad. Worked awesome for us. Might hace to do it in a few steps cause the excavtor will keep being in the way. Weve found that just breaking that suction with the excavator is key. No jerking on the straps or anything. Only damage we did was climbing out of the excavator snagged the joystick and grazed the combine auger. Oops😯
We had tried everything from railway ties and shit. But nothing else worked.
Oh ya take the header off with the excavator too and get it out of the way if you haven't yet. We did that as well.

If you do have access to a hoe there are sone convenient lifting lugs on the lexion combine. Difficult finding a good place to wrap chains on the bavk of the combine. I can't believe the don't come from the factory with good rear tow hooks. You might want to pull the ladder off before you wreck it.

Yeah... that's what we're going to use... We own a Poclain 160. Will lift 12 tonnes, so should be able to handle half the combine... Getting that Honeybee off will be interesting. I don't think there's anywhere to hook chains to lift it out of the way.

If we're a bit stuck we wrap a chain around the arm that holds the chaff spreader up... that seemed to work just fine but usually a little tug and you were out. This time, not so much.

We use tow cable mounted to the front axle..Pull backwards..But if your really buried , go slow...
