Compared to what? If you mean compared to dry hay, we don't have much choice. We don't have enough good drying weather anymore to make enough dry hay to do us. We cut everything with the intention of wrapping it, then when it's at the right moisture to bale and wrap we judge the weather and decide whether to bale it and wrap it or let it dry. Most of our wrapped silage is at 21% protein or more.
Compared to silage, we used to do our hay in a bunker with a custom operator,PT harvester and 3 wagons. We can do as much now with one tractor alternating between cutting and baling and the other hauling and wrapping as we could with the custom operator, one extra person, and 4 tractors before.

I meant as compared to dry hay. Would there be any benefit to wrapping slough hay or straight brome? Or just with alfalfa and greenfeed?
