Double check

I just read a Reuters news feed that stated glyphosate resistant Kochia has been confirmed in Southern Alberta. I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later but that doesn't temper the sick feeling I get reading about it. This could lead to more dirt in the sky again someday. Remember people, "Mix it up."

I read the ruling and didn`t see anything egregious about it. The land owner didn`t lose any rights, he/she just never had them in the first place. The social pact in Canada allows the forced easement of private property for the greater good, as long as fair compensation is paid. As far as I know that is the way it has always been.

On a side note I found the paragraph 3,k mildly amusing.

Don't worry, I passed all of my algebra and calculus classes in school and I've seen the video. I know what an X% of growth means over time. My point was, economic growth doesn't mean exponential growth of the consumption of old-school commodities. Look at oil use in North America since the mid-nineties. It is treading flat or going down. Human ingenuity and efficiency is the reason.

Many examples;
-How many watts did it take to light a 900 lumen light bulb in 1985. How many now?

-What was the average fuel consumption per mile of a family car in 1975? And now?

-How many BTUs did it take to heat a 1000sq.ft house in 1955? And now?

-How much food was thrown out in 1915 because of the lack of household refrigeration?

-What was the percentage of farmland was used to feed beasts of burden in 1905?

The world will become more and more efficient as scarcities present themselves.

And one more thing, for every person who dies in Europe, Japan, heck even Canada, how many are born? I bet it is less than one.

All of those who want to stop selling Canola, Barley, Education, Potash and so on to China, please stop doing so. Find another market for your products (Greece perhaps). The rest of us can then get on with doing business with the fastest growing economy on earth (total growth, not percentage).

You isolationists kill me.
