    Pierre PP .chinese evs.

SO. Today pierre, the idiot savant who absolutely blew the last election, comes out and says he wouldnt ( if in power) lift the tariffs on chinese EVs even if it were to result in China lifting their tariffs on our canola.

So. Whats the answer NOW ??

And again... to this day.. i still have no idea why people over here in alberta were fooled into thinking he would do anything but protect ontario and quebec.

This forum is pretty quiet considering hes now a sitting member of parliament from ONE OF THE LARGEST FARM/ AG ridings in all of Canada.

Much like other times when conservatives have won, nothing will change with the current system. It is getting worse with the urban/rural divide in how Canadians view this country. I do not expect this to change with Pierre. Not sure why so much deference is given to China, the west have allowed them to cancel grain deals for decades when it suits them, ignore WTO rules, Canadians fund their development bank, it truly is a joke. The only conclusion is massive corruption in my opinion.

Certainly an interesting conundrum politicians face.
On one hand you have the Canadian auto industry that would be annihilated if Chinese EV’s were allowed in tariff free. On the other you have Canadian farmers who exported 4.4 million tonnes of canola seed to China in the 2924-25 crop year(source Canadian canola council).

The unknown is the U.S., how would they react if the tariff on Chinese EV’s was lifted in Canada? The U.S. imports 2.5 million tonnes of Canadian canola oil versus 120000 going to China. Would the U.S. consider Canada as a back door for Chinese EV’s entering the U.S.? Would they impose a tariff on Canadian canola oil? Does the Canadian government or Poilievre(“the idiot savant”) for that matter believe that a 10% reduction in Canadian canola prices is a small price to pay to give the Canadian auto industry a chance at survival? I am glad I don’t have to make the decision.

When Pierre Pollieve says no to Chinese EVs, it has nothing to do with Canola. Chinese EVs are a security risk to Canada. I heard him say it in a news clip somewhere. And I agree. Technology embedded in the vehicles can track and gather information about us and our country and where our critical infrastructure is. China would no longer need to send weather balloons to spy on us, we would just give them the information.

China is basically the same type of regime as Russia, who we are helping fund a war against. I wouldn’t want Russian EVs or any type of their vehicles in here right now. I mean let’s face it, we are at war with Russia, which means we are also at war with Russia’s Allies, which includes China, North Korea, Iran and others. We should be doing zero business with these countries. I know this sucks for agriculture here.

Further, Chinese immigration should be stopped immediately and deportation should commence of Chinese immigrants wherever possible. There are more bad actors from China here than we think. Remember the Lady from the lab in Winnipeg who was sending bad viruses to China without authorization. Shortly after we have Covid. Remember Nortel and all the stolen technology that went to China.

This has more ramifications than just electric cars.
