What blend do you use when seeding down hay?

Planting some hayland down this spring and thinking about a Alfalfa-Timothy-Brome mix. Interested in knowing what percentages & varieties other guys are seeding?

Is this field going to be harvested as hay or pastured? Are you going to be selling the hay or feeding it out?

For hay to be fed to cows I seed a blend of 90% BY 2220 alfalfa with 10% promesse timothy.

BY 2220 works, but some of the varieties of alfalfa are quite old and un-improved. They just don't offer the yields that producers are hoping for. Try Pickseed WestStar, an alfalfa blend with fantastic feed quality and performance. It is very similar to 2220 blend, but doesn't include the older, less yielding alfalfas. Use it with Pickseed TimPro Timothy for extra protein. If you want to use Bromegrass, use Fleet Meadow Bromegrass for its regrowth and higher yields. I hope this helps.
