Canola/Soybeans Up Hard This Morning - June 17

At 9:18 a.m. MDT Nov canola is up $6.50/t and Nov beans are up 12 cents/bu. This is a perfect example of emotions (related to weather) and funds moving the markets. One of today's forecasts for the eastern corn belt is for no appreciable moisture until the June 25th weekend.

Canola growers, in my opinion, it's time to get some new-crop (and old-crop) pricing done!

More news on soybean rally - major US forecastor released soybean seeded acreages this morning of 1 million acres below USDA's March intentions and 2.3 million acres below last year's actual acres. Why? Early seeding of corn switched acres out of beans.

Of course, reduced acres means reduced expected new-crop carryouts, too. 05-06 carryouts now at 235 mil. bu., which isn't very low but every million bushel cut is helpful.
