Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Went to Ritche Bros Rouleau yard today from the slum of the Ghetto to Rouleau the best crops were lentils. Some nice canola fields but bad ones in both areas. Some nice cereals too. Flax crops seem thin no matter where you go.

Guys here started spraying liquid wax with their fungicides to prevent wilting in this heat!

In the evening it gets sticky enough to trap midge in wheat and durum crops and plugs the females ovipositor, preventing the laying of eggs. Good for aphids in peas as well. But it really shines in drought proofing canola, through reduced transpiration(high nozzle pressures with lots of water for thorough coverage is required). The company developing this is working on different scents(like your wife's scented PartyLite candles) to see if there is any benefits from different scents.

The product is emulsified which readily mixes with water, can be mixed with most liquid fertilizers and fungicides.

sum post some pictures of crops from your tour. I have a friend heading to Great falls he said its getting drier as he goes south.

Crop here is "sustaining" itself on reserve moisture. Peas are podding and flowering. Wheat is pretty much headed and flowering is wrapping up.

Crop filling next. Need that next elusive inch of rain pretty soon.

Amazing how things are hanging on here....I guess a slow two inch rain gave it "a bit more in the bank" but I bet that cushion is getting pretty thin.

Forgot to mention the many fields of soybeans we saw yesterday. All seemed to have half decent establishment, but they ranged from that sickly look before they start fixing nitrogen to the darker green healthy look. Don't those things like a lot of water during the growing season? Heat they have.
