    Fusarium Testing?

Wonder where everyone is sending grain for testing? How long for the results?

If your looking for just fusarium counts, SGS or CGC or Intertek. CGC doesn't do a cheap and easy Vomitoxin/DON test but the others do kinda a quick test(name anyone?) The whole grade and falling number test doesn't cost that much. Worth it.

I would think turn around times would be fairly quick this time of year, maybe a couple of days from when they receive it. Get results faxed or emailed if your in a hurry.

    Good luck with the results.

If it is just fus count shouldn't elevator be able to do that? It IS a grading factor.

Or better yet you can do that yourself. Proper procedure is in the grain grading guide.

If you want special test for vomi/don any seed cleaner should know who to send it to.

You guys are kidding right? Seed fusarium testing is allot different than counting out visually damaged kernels for grading. They actually grow it in a dish and count out the kernels that have the fusarium fungus growing on them. You can't see fungus it is microscopic! Also infected seed can have very low germination. Discovery seed labs does the tests out of Saskatoon. Seed treatment will be needed this year on even the best seed. Turn around is a couple of weeks. If your buying seed make sure you ask to see the reports from the seed lab.

Your right breadwinner just wasn't sure which he wanted. 20/20, Discovery, bio seed lab all do tests.

Breadwinner is right. Elevator says .8 -1.2% on two elevators. Seed lab says this:
            Fusarium - 20.5 %
            Germination- 91%
            Vigor- 90%
Should I use it for seed?

Agchat, what type of fusarium is it? If it's not gramenara and you're in a bind treat it up good and seed a touch heavy. I've put stuff in the ground up to 24% with good germ. It was one of my best crops ever.

                This is what it says
                PDSL19375-14: Total 20.5% (F.graminearum 16.5%, F.culmorum ND)

I wouldn't use that. That's the bad type of fusarium.

Sure does get confusing. Have had several tell me in a case like this go by the vigor. And with the vigor so close to the germ, treat it, it will be good. If
vigor was 10-15 percent less then no. At five dollar wheat who the **** cares!!
